Hotel is placed in historical building which is 300+ years old near the Nassau castle. Very friendly staff and comfort (for such old building) rooms. Great terrace with view on the valley. Stay in this when you want to feel real medieval atmosphere.

Small and cozy private hotel for the rest

What a find was this hotel in a particularly lovely unspoiled part of Germany overlooking the Lahn valley.  Room at rear of this very old hotel overlooked a wooded valley... peace and tranquility.  Drinks and dinner on the flower filled terrace was a joy and the food delicious - particularly the Rhumtopf dessert!
Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable beds and bedding. Breakfast buffet was superb - even had some rather nice chocolates!
Nassau is a sweet little town beside the river Lahn and it's certainly an area we will revisit - great for cycling and walking through the neighbouring woods.  
Simone the landlady works tirelessly to make this a simply great hotel and absolutely amazing value for money.

Beautiful little hotel

Enjoyed the week we spent here, made even more special by the fantastically helpful Simone. There were lovely views from the terrace and restaurant over the valley. The food was great and more than enough even for a large appetite. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.

My wife and I, with another couple, spent 5 nights at the Lahnromantik hotel last week and what a great time we had. The rooms were comfortable, airy and when necessary warm and cosy. We were at the back of the hotel with a great view over a wooded valley and the road noise was well subdued, rooms overlooking the road (the hotel is on the corner of a road junction) might be more noisy. However the best 'bit' was the welcome we received. The hotel is obviously a favourite of German holiday makers and as such nobody spoke much english. This was a great challenge to my long forgotten German but Simone (the landlady) went out of her way to help us including on-phone translations (Google) and after the first meal she translated the whole menu into English and printed each of us a copy - how nice. The food was excellent and there is a wide menu and generous portions with a well stocked bar (wine, spirits and beer). We ate in three nights out of the five and ended in the bar every night playing dominoes or cards (Uno) much to the interest of the friendly locals. The view from the terrace, which we frequented after site-seeing as the weather was kind, was beautiful and peaceful. One intersting point the hotel only accepted Maestro 'cards' so we paid in cash, withdrawn from a local bank, as luckily we discovered this on day 1. The Lahnromantik provided an excellent base for golf (Mittelrheinischer GC) and visits (Koblenz, Cochem and Bad Ems). Thanks again Simone! (Oh yes - The hotel is now non-smoking and thus clear of this problem)

What a terrific hotel

I just wanted to update my review from last year as I stayed at the Lahnromantik again recently and it has improved greatly.  The no-smoking policy has completely transformed the interior atmosphere of the hotel.  It's still spotlessly clean and this time we stayed on the 2nd floor (1st floor last year) and the bathroom was a better size with a large shower.  The bathroom looked as if it dates from the 1980's, but everything was in perfect working order.

This time around the food was delicious and we dined at the hotel most nights of our week long stay.  Generous portion sizes, freshly prepared and tasty.  The breakfast offering also seemed to have been upgraded with better quality bread and produce.

I'm pleased to report that restaurant Stadthalle in Nassau is still excellent and would urge everyone to try it.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Lahnromantik based on all these improvements.
