My son and I recently had a chance to stay at Hotel Casa El Calvario for a week. We had a wonderful stay at this lovely hotel, just 5 mins from the central park. We really felt at home thanks to Patricia and her friendly staff. 

Patricia, the owner lives in and runs the hotel. She is a most friendly host, as is her entire staff. The facility is spotless, the backyard immaculate for breakfasts and the rooftop terrace has a fantastic 360 degree view of the volcanoes surrounding Antigua. 

It wouldn’t be fair to not mention the delicious home-cooked breakfast everyday. We loved it and highly recommend Hotel Casa El Calvario. 

P.S. The showers are hot :) and you can do laundry there!

Haven of Peace

I stayed at Casa El Calvario for 2 weeks during my recent visit to Antigua.  I also had my meals their, and was very happy with my entire experience.  The Casa is very nice and well furnished, and the staff does a terrific job keeping it very clean.  There is also wifi and cable TV.  Casa El Calvario is located in a quite area on the south end of town, I pleasant walk from the town center.

Very comfortable stay

Situated a 10 min walk from the main square. 
In a quiet street but with shops and bars not far away (and an amazing bakery). Our room was in a row just after reception, and had a comfortable bed with clean linens. Clean towels and toiletries provided. Shower was powerful but at best only warm. Free drinking water provided. The roof terrace view was amazing, overlooking the town and volcanoes. The owner and his family were very nice, and also helpful with information. It's a bit annoying that you aren't supplied with a front door key. Overall very good value. 

Very good value and nice owners 

Cosy little place down on 2da avenida sur. The staff were so nice and friendly and always offering us tea and coffee! The Wi-Fi was good and it was very safe. You had to be let in by the night guard each night. Good value for money in Antigua. Not a place to stay if looking to meet others, more a quiet place to rest the head.

Worth the stay

The Hotel itself wasn't too bad. It was a cute style with rooms that were decent and clean linen and towels. There was Wifi. The water was lukewarm. The view from the terrace was gorgeous. The location was pretty good but it is more of a quiet place to stay. The biggest issue we had was that they put us in one room for a night because other room were occupied but then they needed to move us the next night because the room we were in was the only one able to fit more beds for a larger group. This was a huge inconvenience and had they planned better it could have been avoided... otherwise pretty cute place!
