I was there to reserve and pay 2 rooms for family that was attending a family party. I choose 2 rooms with king size bed , one of them with an xtra twin bed. The rooms were spacious, the bathroom too and well equipped. . The only downside was that it has 4 floors with no elevator. But the facilities are nice, this is a hotel to travel on a acceptable budget. It has a small restaurant, but is located just across La Pradera Mall with plenty of restaurants for all the wallets .   The personnel were very nice and helpful with my last minute accomodations. They even waived and extra charge for the additional twin bed that I request last minute when I already paid for the 2 rooms. That was very nice of them. I highly recommend this hotel.

Awesome on a Budget !!!

I was warmly welcomed and shown to my room which was large, well appointed and looked like 3.5  star hotel in the USA or Europe.  The funiture was new and well constructed, the windows were insulated against noise, there were ample power outlets and the tv was a new flat screen.  One thing I especially liked as a single traveller is that this hotel charges per person, not by the size of the room.  So instead of being relegated to a tiny room for my Q225, I was given the same room that two or three people would share.   I can't tell you how much I liked that.  
As I was in Xela (literally) to buy supplies formthe NGO I work for in a remote part of GT, I appreciated that the hotel management let me store a large quantity of new purchases in the storeroom after check out, until my ride showed up and we headed back to remote parts.

A surprisingly affordable western-style hotel in a great location to conduct business

Lovely room, great WiFi signal everywhere, very clean, excellent service! This hotel is close to downtown and is a great option with a good price for business trips. The restaurant is also a great option.

Lovely and clean!

Stayed here for one night on a work trip that required field visits near Quetzaltenango.  The hotel is located on the other side of a pedestrian bridge from several restaurants (San Martin, Cebollines, Pollo Campero, etc.).  It seemed that several buses also stopped in front of the hotel.  Hotel had secure parking.  Wi-fi was available, but on and off.

Good location, clean, friendly staff

I'm going to start this review simply by saying that Hotel Latam is just across the street and looks like a much better option if you are looking for a modern hotel. Las Americas is perhaps good for Xela, but if you're used to nice American hotel chains, you may feel like you're roughing it out here. It is a very old local hotel. The furniture is old. My room smelled musty. My sheets smelled like mildew. The bed was hard and you can feel the springs through it. I received a towel that was still damp. There were a few ants crawling on my bathroom floor. Toiletries are limited to little opened bars of soap and little foil packets of shampoo. There is no A/C or heater. Overall, I just didn't feel like it was super clean so I didn't walk on the floor barefoot and the smell of my sheets and the temperature of the room (cold!) was very distracting as I tried to sleep. 

On the bright side, I enjoyed the breakfasts and appreciated the filtered water dispensers in the hallway as you're advised to avoid the tap water. The staff was friendly enough. The wifi was fine from my room. There's a nice flat screened TV in the room. It's located within walking distance to Walmart and several restaurants.

It's definitely a livable room and I've actually stayed in worse. The staff try their best. It's just not up to American standards. To be fair, Guatemala isn't a first world country. I can see how this was perhaps the best of Xela before Hotel Latam came around, but now that the latter is available at a fair cost, I see no need to stay here.
