We stayed with Sharlet and Edison for the first week of a three month trip in India.
They were nothing but warm, welcoming and informative.
Their helpfulness wasn't restricted to what we should do, but also what and who to avoid!

We slept well in a spacious and very clean room, and water and toiletries were available at uninflated prices.

Highly recommend eating breakfast here, as at 100INR per person (at time of our stay) it was incredible value and equalled anything we ate in a restaurant. We had masala dosa, coconut chuntey, sambal, masala chai, fruit and water for one breakfast and then sweet coconut pancakes and steamed banana for another.

These genuine and lovely people deserve your business, speak excellent English (Sharlet specifically) and were a great first impression upon us.

Home away from home

In February me and my friend Sam concluded 15 months of travel, 2 of them in India. Our last stop was the beautiful Kochi. It was sad to end our time travelling but we could not have foreseen what a fantastic send off we'd get by staying at Marian's castle. It was a superb experience from start to finish. 

To start with the room was comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom which had hot showers!
Edison and Sharlat, the landlords are wonderful hosts and just lovely people. Edison organised trips for us to see the traditional Kerala arts show and also a trip for us down to the backwaters. He gave brilliant advice and really helped our experience. Sharlat taught us how to make Chai tea and prepared a wonderful meal for me on my last full day, she is a super cook! 
It wasn't just these things that made for such a wonderful experience but we felt like we had made new friends, they are a lovely couple and it was great chatting to them about culture, family and just about anything else! We were made to feel right at home and were looked after brilliantly. I couldn't encourage people enough to choose Marian's Castle, it's a such a genuine experience and lovely place to stay that you don't feel like 'customers' or 'tennants' but a member of the household. Massive thumbs up from me. :)

The best end to my trip I could have asked for

We only stayed at Marian's Castle for one night as we had train tickets booked to leave Kochi, but wished we stayed longer! Sharlot and her husband are really nice and we have enjoyed talking to them. It is pleasant to see a homestay where the owners are so warm and welcoming and you can get to know the locals.
The room was nice and clean with an en suite bathroom. The guesthouse is located few minutes walk off the main road so it's nice and quiet. You can easily catch a bus or tuk to the touristic area or you can walk it in about 15 minutes.

This is an amazing home stay option in Kochi...!!! If you are looking for a good, clean, pocket friendly and near to fort Kochi area, this is the place for you. Sharlet & Edison are the perfect hosts. Sharlet cooked a nice dinner & breakfast for us whereas Edison was very helpful in guiding us through fort Kochi area.

Rooms - Rooms are very clean and neat. Toilets are also very clean.

Food - Excellent. We had a nice veg dinner and puttu for breakfast. It was very good. We enjoyed it a lot. 

Locality - It is approximately 1 km away from Chinese Fishing nets. All other attractions like St. Francis Church, beach etc. are within 1 km distance.

Overall, it was a very good experience. Thanks Sharlet & Edison...!!! :)

Amazing Homely Experience..!!!

I stayed at "Marian Castle" with a friend. A great experience that I won't Forget! Sharlet and Edison were very Kind, we watched her daughters Show on TV and sang different Songs together in the evening. I can really recommend this place.
