Our host Kish (who also runs a neighboring guest house) was soooo awesome. He showed us various rooms until we found the one most suitable for us. The chillout restaurant is right nearby with great Western and Indian food. Centrally located, it is a minute‘s walk to the river or the temples. The shower is workable along with the other sanitary facilities. And the WIFi is super fast! Very safe and a lovely family downstairs. It felt like home right away. The room we stayed in is located on the second floor. Very safe. Even the occasional monkey will respect your space.

nice to stay in a very beautiful view and tourist  room service good clean the staff was so gently and helpful for us  good breakfast and laundry cleaning for cheap money   if i go other time i will stay  in this hotel as well

Spent five nights at the Thilak Home Stay in Hampi and we were made to feel very welcome. Kish, the proprietor is very responsive to enquiries before arrival, is happy to assist in transport to/from Hampi and his English is excellent. WiFi was good at all times.  Our room was very clean and had a fan and a/c. Definitely recommended. Thilak is opposite Chill Out which does excellent food and we have also reviewed.

Great homestay! Super comfortable and really clean. The location is amazing- right in the centre of the town and a short walk from the temples/ruins. The owner Kish is friendly and extremely helpful, he found and booked us train tickets to our next destination (though the tuk tuk he booked to take us to the train station never turned up so be wary of that!). Overall would definitely recommend!!

Best place to stay! 

This place is very close to Virupaksha Temple and is surrounded by good eateries which serves local food. I would recommend to look for places which provide local cuisines rather than going for international menu, as it will be expensive and might not worth it.

The hospitality is great, and you get free Wi-Fi over here, though it isn't fast but does the work. Plus, Hampi is pristine and isolated so in a way it is good that it is less digitized and should remain like that.

The place is maintained properly and is neat and clean and with AC. You probably won't get mobile network in Hampi, as you can't spot mobile tower, and to get good mobile network you might have to visit Matanga Hill or Hemakuta Hill. These are the 2 best place to visit if you're in Hampi. The Best part about Thilak Homestay is it is close to both these hills.

Overall, this place is great and I'd recommend this place.

Awesome Location and Accommodation

The rooms are modestly sized, as befits a homestay, but clean. The family that runs the place are very helpful. The air con is good. Best of all, you can sit by the doorway as the day comes to an end, sipping some tea from the shop around the corner, watching the buffalo stroll home. Isn't that what homestay is about. My only quibble is that my booking said breakfast included, but their restaurant next door was firmly closed throughout my stay.

in the heart of the village

The main plus of this place is the location - right in the centre of Hampi, we couldn't have asked for more. It was also very close to the Mango Tree restaurant (the best in Hampi), which was super useful in the evenings after a busy day of site seeing. 

The room was perfectly fine - air con & hot water included. 

Kish was a super helpful host. If you need help booking a bus (like we did to Goa) then he's your guy. 

Overall would definitely recommend. Good value for money and great location.

London couple travelling around South India

The location of Kish's homestay is fantastic - right in the centre of Hampi Bazar. Wish himself was so helpful - helping us book travel and giving us lots of advice for our onward travel. He also put us in touch with his friend, Ravi, who took us on a great 2-day tour of all the monuments. The room itself was a bit basic - it could do with a bit of TLC (new linen and mattress maybe), but if you can handle that it's a good place.

Great location and friendly host

Hampi seems to be a bit of a "hippy" backpacker hangout, and I don't know why.  Perhaps it's because of its green open spaces, clean air, very little traffic and the town is small.  We booked Thilak hotel (homestay) through Booking.com.  The hotel is in the centre of the town, although the town is verrrry small.  We only stayed one night and had to pay for an extra night for a 6 pm late check out.  My travel companion was very sick and need a bathroom before we caught our early evening train.  This hotel is OK for a cheap (A$19 per person per night) backpacking joint, although we didn't check out prices in any alternative hotels.  The room didn't have any outside windows and was a bit of a cell.  There was air conditioning, a fan and hot water in the shower; although the hot water took a long time to come through.  The included breakfast was next door in the family-run restaurant. there was a choice of three "fixed menus" consisting of eggs, toast with butter & jam.

OK daze in Hampi

We stayed here for 4 nights, the location is great and they were helpful hosts who booked our bus transfer for us. Fine for backpackers who just need a bed but would not recommend for a relaxing holiday or for families. The air con that we paid extra for was very unreliable and did not work properly and the shower did not work. Also very noisy, I think this is partly due to the nature of Hampi itself but the family live above the rooms and after 6am every morning there was banging, shouting, running and all sorts going on up there.
