This was a great find. Jogi, the manager is VERY helpful beyond what is expected. He made our stay here really pleasant. We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were clean and well appointed. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was delicious and well cooked. We also had a couple of evening meals here and we had these on our room's  balcony looking at the mountains. We would stay here again if we got back to Leh.

We stayed at New Royal Guest House for 4 nights at the end of May 2019. We have stayed at many hotels in India, and nowhere has been as helpful and accommodating as this small guest house - and we have stayed at some 4 star hotels. The manager, Gyatso, was even answering my emails back in March when my wife and I were planning the trip. Nobody else has been this responsive. I was in contact with him several days before we arrived and he had a representative waiting for us at the airport. From the moment we arrived our stay was great. He organized everything for us, including inner line permits, motorcycle rental for our trip to Khardong La, and trip to Pangong Lake. Usually this level of service means $$$$, but the prices were very affordable for the service we received. Additionally, the in-house restaurant has a broad selection of local Ladakhi and international cuisine. They are a little slow with the preparation, but this is because they prepare everything from scratch, including the Momos and the Thukpa with handmade noodles. 
Some reviewers have complained about the hot water and internet here. It’s true the internet is problematic here, so complete your large downloads before you come. But the hot water works great, you just have to turn the boiler on when you arrive - they keep it off to save energy and sometimes forget to tell guests.  Gyatso and the other staff we very respectful and courteous to us, and we really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely consider returning here on our next trip to Leh.  

Excellent service - great value

We stayed for 7 nights and where very happy here. Good value for money. Relaxed and comfortable. Nice quiet location and just a short 5 minute walk down into town. 10 minutes back! Staff where friendly. Gyatso in particular was very helpful and knowledgeable. Great views from terrace and a good view of the palace from our room. Judging by some of the reviews everyone has different experiences of the place but we’d be more than happy to stay here again.

Excellent Guest House! Great hospitality, helpfull staff, tasty meals, close to the market...! Next time we gonna stay at the same place... Free Wi-Fi. Quiet area. Safe parking. Definitely recomended 😉👍

Great location, excellent staff, owner very helpful. I suggest you take the room with the balcony as the palace view is just mesmerising. As we changed our tour plan after we reached Leh, he was very generous to reschedule our dates without any extra charges.

Royal stay at new Royal guest house

Well, the breakfast is ok, but it could be more varied. Not selling beer is too bad:-( 

Expect cheap and 'alright' accomodation, friendly and helpful staff and a nice sun terrace with a stunning view to the stok group including one of the highest mountains, the stok kangri (6153m alt.) Wifi is working, but only in Leh (I mean in whole Leh) the Internet is down like half of the time... The city is in a short walking distance, but nevertheless you are not in a crowded area, so there is no noise during night time.

Nice budget stay

Don't book and waste your time. I had booked 2 rooms and on arrival were told by the guy that bathrooms were not functional..Generally avoid guest houses as these are run unprofessionaly and basic hot water is also an issue at most locations.
