After the bustle in Delhi, our three night stay in Orchha at the house of brother and sister Vishal and Neetu was very enjoyable. The homestay is located on the outskirts of Orchha where you can enjoy village life. Neighbour children coming to the compound in the afternoon to receive extra school support from Vishal or the lady who will come and do your laundry on request.  We (my wife and me and my wife’s sister) had two rooms with shared bathroom and toilet and direct access to the outside space. The rooms are basic, but clean and perfectly fit the expectation. There is no airco, but the ventilator keeps the room temperature acceptable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared for you on request at a limited extra charge. Romi, who is managing the overall Friends of Orchha project is very helpful in getting things arranged, from booking a room to pick up  from railway station or any other request you would have. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and if our travel schedule was not so tight we would have loved to stay longer!!

Enjoying village life in a small town

It's a small, family-run homestay just outside the city gates of Orchha. Nice and humble hosts, good food, very clean (!) rooms with AC and warm water. Breakfast is good, too. Prices are low and really worth every rupee. Recommended!

Best Homestay

Since the time we started out Orchha trip we came across many home stay and hotels as every other home in Orchha is either a Home stay or restaurant. When we read about this Innovative initiative to help locals we decided to stay here. 

Romi is a Fantastic Guy who manages this and will help ou with every single details of the area and helps you in every possible way. 

Stay options was very well maintained had everything that you could ask for in the room. e.g. a Printout of a Multilingual translator was also there to help you in communicating with the host family. 

Host family makes sure that Food and snacks were served on time and there was a Bonfire too in the night. We had enjoyed every interaction with the local people here. 

Highly Highly recommended if you are looking for a different home stay in Orchha

Actual Homestay for a Noble Cause

Fantastic property with brilliant views of the Betwa River. Very centrally located. The owners Madhur Singh Bundela and his lovely wife Sanghita Singh take care of you like their family. Superb hospitality.
The food served at all meals is truly gourmet and the rooms are big and well furnished. 
There are picnics on the riverside and day trips with yummy food packed to give you a taste of home. 
Very very comfortable and happy holiday. 
A must visit destination and must stay home.

Chandera Kothi Orcha

I visited Orchha recently and caught up with friends.  We stayed at a lovely homestay called Chandera Kothi. The property is situated right on the banks of the Betwa and has been built in the traditional Bundelkhand style but with reclaimed bricks and interiors giving it an old- world look but a modern yet eco- friendly feel. Comfort and genuinely warm hospitality are intertwined with delicious home- cooked traditional meals and assitance in local tours and activities. I was also pleasantly surprised by the large variety of birds on the property and surrounding area including spotting the critically endangered Indian vulture roosting peacefully in the minument rooftops, which was an unexpected treat!

Stay at Chandera Kothi Orchha- a little bit of old, a little bit of new

We spend few days in Orchha with one of the family of this association. And it was a real pleasure. The room was large, clean and practical,in the courtyard, where all the family life happens. After few hours, even with basic English we felt really confortable and learn a lot about tradition and way of living. You can eat with them on the best meal of India. If you need anything, the member of the association is there to help us to organise trip, tour... Etc but without pushing!

Fews days with the friends of Orchha

Our stay in Orchha was truly special. For those of you who want to experience real village life in India, you will not be disappointed. Our family the Yadav’s were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Any request such as hot water and blankets were taken care of. Talking to the family you soon understand the challenges that they face. It was inspiring to be part of their life for a few days. Don’t expect too much luxury, there is no running water, the toilet is a hole in floor and it can get cold in the winter, but the house was very clean and cosy, and very homely. We loved the simplicity of it. 
Romi, the manager, was one of the best guys we have met in India. Professional and on point, he made our time there run very smoothly. 
Totally recommend the experience !

Cosy and enlightening stay 

I must thank Mr Romi, Kusum and Manoj for their love and hospitality. Homely stay with tasty food. They even took care of my old mother who could not move around the town and stayed back during the day time.  It was a lovely stay and we celebrated Diwali along with the community children.

It was a bit challenging for my mother as the wash rooms are bit far from the room and because of her age, she had to use the washroom several times during the night.

The family we stayed at was so friendly, lovely and welcoming. The children speak English very well and the room is clean! You’ll experience the lifestyle of people in rural areas and it’s definitely not touristic. 

Amazing experience!

Without knowing much about this village we really lucked out.  We were welcomed into  the Yadav family and had an absolutely fabulous stay.  We participated in their daily life, from cooking, schooling, to visiting the farm.  During our stay we met the founder of this project, a passionate woman who made this dream into a reality.  Many local families are involved in this project and the homestays connect them with the outside world and especially bring a much-needed extra source of income. The Yadav's home is basic, but very comfortable with everything we needed, including a private room with a comfortable bed with a good fan, a shower, a common area to meet with the family and delicious food. A big thank you to Kiran, Surendra, Mini, Khushi and of course Mojo.
We really do hope to return one day - or at least keep in touch with the family.
