I have stayed with Michael and Margaret twice now and both visits have been lovely. The breakfast was excellent and special requests granted all done with a smile. The room we had was lovely and spacious and suited our needs would definitely recommend

Family trip

Tara Hall was the home of the author and poet, Monk Gibbon from 1948 thru 1985.  Monk Gibbon was known as the The grand old man of Irish Letters.  The house was a regular meeting spot of many other Irish Writers so lots of history to this old Regency Style guest house. Great location for a B&B .

The hotel is a bit dated. Shower a trickle unable to use though this may have been due to the water restrictions in Ireland. Breakfast was good but had to pay cash which is difficult to claim with business expenses. 
Sandycove is absolutely lovely though so the hotel location is perfect.

Business Trip

I spent my last night in Ireland at this B&B.  It was drab shabby & not the cleanest. The bathroom door in my room was a piece of plywood with hinges on it. The "host" right off wanted to find out what time we would be leaving. When we told her she wanted to make sure we settled the bill right then because she didn't want to get out of bed in the morning to settle it. She also made sure to tell us she wouldn't be feeding us breakfast either. I imagine her offering to not feed us was the sliver lining of staying there.This was the last place I stayed & was my favorite place to leave. I would not choose to stay here again.

The B&B that put me in the mood to leave Ireland.

The staff rang during the week trying to get us to come in earlier than 2 on Sunday, when we arrived Margaret was giving out about others being late. I met her in the corridor that night and she was unable to string a sentence together she was so intoxicated. The next morning she said she'd rather not be making breakfast alluding that she was hungover after been drinking the night before. She was curt to put it mildly in her conversations and also gave out about the commission  booking sites take. Breakfast was just about edible and the juice selection was only cordial not proper juice. She was very smart to a couple beside us who asked for only sausage and egg. The room was very outdated, our 5 year old had to share the bed there was none for him and the bed was very soft and uncomfortable.

Don't stay here

Poor facilities, over priced,  Lady owner abrupt and hostile.  Has sale agreed so won't be available much longer  anyway.  Premises in poor repair and dated.  Not suitable for families or travellers with disabilities. Badly  fitted out rooms with sockets that look unsafe.  Breakfast is pushed as an extra but didn't partake.  Not a pleasant atmosphere and only used as a base but that was too long to stay there.
