Another great stay in Callan at Margarets B&B , this being my 8th trip . Margaret was helpfull like always and breakfast sets you up for the rest of the day . Location is ideal for viisiting Kilkenny and plenty to see and do   As always I enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to my next trip in June

A great B&B

We stayed at Moonarch for three days in late September.  Our hostess, Margaret, was wonderful.  She provided all of the extra touches that defines a bed and breakfast as exceptional and delightful.  Our stay started with her tea and cakes to welcome us.  Each morning she offered delicious, hot breakfast options and homemade jams and breads.  After breakfast, she offered suggestions on what we could visit and suggestions on the routes.  Our day ended with a chat in the living room with Margaret and the other guests, over an Irish whiskey or hot whiskey toddy.

The room was comfortable and attractively decorated, and included a tea/coffee maker and plate of fresh fruits.

Part of the joy of travelling is the people you meet and Margaret certainly added to our joy.

We stayed at the Moonarch for 4 nights in mid-September and it was terrific.  Margaret's attention to detail on everything and anything guarantees a thoroughly enjoyable stay.  Don't hesitate in booking this B&B for a memorable vacation.

Delightful host, delightful house

Moonarch B&B represented our "Lay Days" in the middle of a two-week self-guided tour of Ireland, and we could not have found a more delightful, accommodating, cared-for or welcoming location in which to collect ourselves before the rush to Dublin.

Innkeeper Margaret Treacy is truly a jewel. She immediately made us feel at home, a state that continued throughout our stay. Wonderful morning breakfasts through late afternoon tea, through Irish coffee or a hot toddy in the evening, through rescuing several shirts that just wouldn't dry. Margaret's directions and guidance allowed us to navigate Kilkenny's roads (almost) perfectly - any errors were ours alone - and her knowledge of the County was truly impressive.

Our room was spotlessly clean, restful, large enough for us to rattle around a bit, and on the ground floor - always a good thing. 

The social center of Moonarch B&B is the guests' gathering room. What a delightful place to have tea, learn things we didn't even know we needed to know, savor Margaret's baking, and relax at the end of each day. 

More than adequate parking in this quiet, rural location, with good access to M9 and other roads leading in all directions.

A MOST WONDERFUL B&B near Callan

This was our first time to Ireland. Moonarch Bed and Breakfast was a wonderful experience. Margaret was a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was delicious. Room was comfortable. In the evening Margaret served her homemade lemon pound cake with irish Coffee or balieys. What a treat! We enjoyed sharing stories about our Ireland travels with the other guests.Margaret was very helpful with planning our days adventures. We stayed in 4 different accommodations. Moonarch was the most memorible experience.

Felt just like Home

From the minute you walk through the door Margaret makes you feel so welcome. The variety at breakfast is amazing,and when you are leaving Margaret will help you with maps and directions. Definitely well worth a visit if your in the area and need somewhere to stay.

Margaret is without a doubt beautiful in spirit and body!!
We needed Medical attention for our daughter from an existing concussion! Margaret was the Angel who went above and beyond to help us through this unexpected situation!
Besides having the loveliest home, filling well presented breakfast, and the nicest welcome, Margaret makes Moonarch feel like “Coming Home”

Beyond Pleasurable💫

We were travelling to Kilkenny for a concert and had booked into the Moonarch B&B in Calla  for the night.We arrived around mid day on Sunday, we were greeted by Margaret (the owner) and shown to our rooms. Beautiful facilities, large rooms with en suite  facilities. Very clean and bright and tastefully decorated. We were offered tea/coffee on our arrival served with home made lemon drizzle cake or porter cake, both absolutely delicious. When we arrived back from the concert Margaret was still up and offered us tea/ coffee/ hot toddy. Breakfast the next day was scrumptious, accompanied by Margaret's home baked scones hot from the oven. Margaret was such a warm and welcoming host, I felt as if I had known her for years but had only met her the day before for the first time. Her experience in the industry was evident from the get go. I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough.

Best B&B I have ever stayed in

We just had a stay at Moonarch B&B this past week. Margaret was so welcoming and our room was so comfortable! She has thought of everything,  lotions, sewing kits etc. We had a lovely welcome basket as well. Our breakfast was delicious with homemade scones, waffles, fruit, yogurt etc. We had heard about the great Irish coffee she offers, and she invited us to join her for a drink when we arrived back from dinner. Unfortunately, it was our jetlag day and we got back around 8:30 with only the ability to stumble to our comfy beds, so we missed out on that.  Sorry Margaret! Thank you for a great stay.

Great Stay

The loveliest B&B I have ever stayed in.  Location was perfect for our sightseeing and visiting of family.  Margaret could not have done more to make us feel welcome in her home.  Everything and more that you might want from a stay.  Beautiful rooms.  An amazing home set in a fabulous garden. Breakfast a particular highlight of the stay.  This was a return visit for us and I know that we will be definitely back.
