I have owned and operated a 5-star B&B in Durban South Africa for 18 years, so when I stay at other establishments, no matter how hard I try, I always feel like I have stepped into an episode of the Hotel Inspector! 
I can quite unequivocally say that Gavin and his team have got it right. The Hospitality, cleanliness, yummy fresh local food, central location within walking distance of pubs and restaurants, safe parking, comfy beds with great linen, toasty warm room, good quality furniture and décor, … we shall definitely return and look forward to being Red Setters again!

The Red Setter is a WIN!!

Stayed here for 2 nights when my ferry home was cancelled due to poor weather. Lovely, clean room and en suit. Huge breakfast each morning with a good selection of lighter options if preferred. Quiet room and friendly staff with everything needed locally.

Stayed for 3 nights. Gavin and his staff are so friendly and welcoming, it was very very clean and we had a great nights sleep the breakfast was absolutely gorgeous. Very quiet and still in a great location. we loved the furniture/decor. Gavin runs in business and his business is a guesthouse in Carlow and he runs that business very very well. Wel ldone Gavin. We were phoned by Gavin before check in and given the Eire code and gate code for the car park- really useful. The property is in the centre of Carlow and convenient to everything. Super friendly Gavin made check in a breeze and gave us great information about where to eat and drink as well as what to do in the local area. 
Our room was at the rear of the property and was quiet, bright and airy with a spacious shower room. The bed was huge and really comfortable. 
Breakfast was very high quality- cooked to order, hot and plentiful. Overall a fabulous relaxing night away.

Superb mini break

Fantastic located guesthouse in central carlow with accommodating and hospital hosts. The guest house was spotlessly clean with extra covid 19 measures in place. Gavin and Triona's hospitality has earned our stay should we ever find ourselves in carlow again.

Great Guesthouse in central Carlow

This B & B is located right in the heart of Carlow so you can walk to shops, restaurants, and attractions!  We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our large room and the antique setting.  Gavin gave us the choice of two rooms and I chose the larger, although right by the street room, so he also provided ear plugs to combat any noise from passing traffic.  He was helpful also when my husband needed to work and directed me to the local tourist office and then when we needed a place to store luggage for a few hours after checking out.  He also turned on the fire and served me tea when waiting.  Breakfast was hearty and good.  I would definitely stay here again if ever given the chance to return to Carlow!

Enjoyed our stay at Red Setter!

I was travelling to Carlow and a couple of friends told me about the Red Setter.  Booked in and was delighted.  The secure lock up carpark was great, the bedroom very comfortable and the location ideal to explore the town.  Our host, Gavin was very friendly and helpful.  If you are a book lover, as I am, you will be in your element as there are great books everywhere, only problem is getting enough time to read them all.
Lovely breakfast.  Everything was clean and comfortable.

I had been told to visit and it lived up to expectations

Myself and myself girlfriend stated in the red setter bed and breakfast past July last summer and it was amazing the owners gavin and trio a where lovely to so lovely and friendly I would definitely recommend it to anyone 100 percent myself my girlfriend are going back for valentines weekend we enjoyed so much to the last time and the owners and all the staff were so lovely to us I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast 100 percent to everyone the owners and all the staff are so lovely

Couples break

Superb town House B/B in centre of town near all amenities with secure lock up car park. The venue was extremely busy given the fact the Ploughing was on nearby . Rooms were spacious comfortable and cosy . Breakfast was cooked to order and quality of items was top class. No shortage of reading material .

having traveled all over ireland for most of 20 or 30 years I can say without any doubt that everything I tell people is the true ok let me begin the Red Setter is located in the center of Carlow with all the amenities close by getting back to our stay the B&B is run by a family and so the rooms and the cooking are done by them all the rooms are modern clean and up to date the breakfast is the typical Irish with eggs black and white pudding (sausage) toast and all the tea and coffee you can drink the car is located in the back of the B&B and is secured entry is by a special code  Carlow is located about 1hour and 1/2 from Dublin or can also be reach from Cork on the southern side.you can easily make day trips any one of the following places   examples are Kilkenny the ring of kerry  the following places may require overnite stays galway donegal and other places  to numerous to mention although there is one that comes to mind that is kinsale located on the Irish Sea  which reminds me of Cape Cod with narrow streets and small shops and last is the cliffs of moher it is breathtaking and a sight you wont  easily forget I could go on and on but that is enough for  now next will be our trip to northern Ireland Erin go bragh
