This was my first visit to Southern Ireland, this hotel we booked after a google search.
The hotel is a lovely place to stay the 2 owners go out of their way to look after their guests, the internal decor is immaculate and the rooms are more than adequate,  very organised and very clean and fresh.
The location is within easy reach of town and close to tourist attractions. The grounds are well kept and are a lovely location to sit and watch the world go by. The breakfast is cooked fresh and is served quickly and there is a lot choose from. It really sets you up for the day.
There is off road parking which is secure.
I will definitely be.coming back there are some.lovely places to visits and walks to do, the parks and old houses to visit are great, we loved the deers and lakes.

A warm welcome guaranteed

Stayed here during a night out in NCW. Carmel & Charlie are amazing, made me feel like I'd been staying there for years. The house is beautiful, it's like something out of a storybook. It's not modern, no way, but that's it's charm, plus no amount of bells and whistles beats proper hospitality. The plasterwork on the ceilings and cornicing is like something from a stately home. I will definitely stay again, even if I don't need to .... ❤

Just perfect

Carmel and Charlie O'Brien are the perfect hosts providing beautiful rooms, amenities and delicious breakfasts! We have stayed at the Ballingowan House on several prior trips and cannot say enough about the warm welcome and  Irish hospitality  we experience each visit. 

Carmel and Charlie know so much about the local area and have been very helpful in putting us in touch with long lost cousins, directing us to excellent restaurants and providing all sorts of insights and advice on local points of interest. 

In short, we feel like family when we stay at the Ballingowan House!

It was not be a true  trip "home" to Ireland unless we stayed at the Ballingowan House!

We stayed here one night and it was wonderful. We were with our daughter and son-in-law. Our room faced the road and their room faced the fields behind the house. Both rooms were tastefully decorated. We had a huge bathroom, complete with a tub and bidet. From our room we saw a beautiful sunset and our daughter and son-in-law got to see cows that came running towards the house when they thought there was food for them. The grounds are gorgeous. Lots of flowers and a sitting area out front to the side of the house.

The hosts were delightful. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious and plentiful. We had a good night’s sleep. The furniture in the common room (part of the dining area) was very comfy. Restaurants aren’t walkable so we drove a short distance to dinner.

The only glitch we had is that we were told upon arrival that it was cash only, which we were not aware of (we had booked through Expedia and did not see anything about cash payments). Luckily there is a Tesco just down the road and we went to the ATM for cash.

I would stay here again if I found myself in Ireland again.

Beautiful Grounds, Lovely Rooms

The local hotel was full and they recommended we stay here and I have to say I am so glad we did. Everything from the room to the grounds are beautiful. Carmel & Charles are the most wonderful hosts friendly and helpful. You feel like you have known them for years. Highly recommend a stay here. Thank you Carmel & Charles

Wonderful Place to Stay

This beautiful house and yard are very comfortable. The room we stayed in has everything you'd need. It is outside of Newcastle West. There innkeeper and her husband we so friendly and helpful. I had made a mistake in the booking and Carmel was only too happy to sort things. We had an interesting genealogical discovery and shared as though she were a long time friend. Very nice experience here!

Wonderful Experience

Carmel and Charles were terrific hosts, very attend, nice spacious rooms, more than generous breakfasts. We stayed two nights and took a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr and then a second day to Muckross House. We went to Dan Cronin's Bar & Bistro in Newcastle which Mrs. O'Brien had recommended and had great food and the people at the restaurant were terrific.  We enjoyed them so much we went back a second night -- seafood chowder was the best but we are forever hooked on their brown gravy.  The town of Newcastle and the Village of Adare are close by and we enjoyed all that it offered, picture perfect towns and nice people. This is really a perfect location for day trips.

Thanks Charlie and Caramel for your kindness. We have the stay in Ballingowan on our trip from Clifden to Dingle. Comparing with other hotels we stayed in the previous days, Ballingowan House is not aside town or scenery point, but it is really a good choice for overnight rest on the midway of a travel.

We want to thank hosts for their hospitality and amazing atmosphere especially during breakfasts. You make us feel welcome and we really enjoyed spending Easter in Ballingowan House. We would highly recommend staying here.

An amazing place to stay

We stayed here for 1 night in July.

Pluses:
-Tea, coffee, plus kettle in the room
- Free included Irish breakfast

Minuses:
- The B&B is in the middle of nowhere on a long rural highway between a small town and a touristy area (Adare and Limerick). That single road is quiet by the B&B, but congested with constant traffic if you try to drive to Limerick.
- Nothing is in walking distance; good pubs in the town are hard to find
-Wifi is spotty
-House and rooms are a bit old-time-musty B&B...very pink, very lacy, and filled with religious artwork. YMMV.

Overall, I would stay closer to Limerick.
