The Artist Residence Dublin is one of the best B & Bs in Ireland for the following reasons: 1) it is immaculately clean; the staff disinfects every inch of all the rooms in the house every day; 2) our room's shower had a strong flow and lots of hot water;  
3) every part of breakfast -- coffee, tea, croissants, porridge, omelette, smoked salmon, and more -- is delicious; 4) the hosts are generous and helpful, offering anything their guests need in addition to the basics (maps, keys, touring suggestions etc.); 5) there is a lounge with three comfortable sofas, a television, and books, and another shared space with tea, coffee, and biscuits always available; 6) public transportation in both directions --to the beautiful seaside village of Howth and the amazing heights of Howth Summit, or (in the other direction) to the city of Dublin -- is easily available.  And finally, the atmosphere created by the hosts, Bea and David, is warm and welcoming.  We stayed at the Artist Residence slightly over two weeks, the longest we've stayed at any Irish B & B, and we recommend it highly.

one of the best B & Bs in Ireland

I'm happy to add to all the rave (excellent) reviews about  The Artist Residence Dublin.  Unlike most guests, we stayed there over two weeks, and we have only good things to say.  Having experienced many B & Bs in Ireland, I know what matters the most, so that's what I'll comment on.  1) It's immaculately clean.  Every inch of every room in the entire house is disinfected thoroughly every day.  The entire place is always spotless. 2) If, like us, you want to be near the beautiful seaside village of Howth, this is the ideal place to stay.  For those with a car, there is parking.  For others, there is convenient bus transportation, with  stops minutes away from the house.  A trip to Howth Village, with its dozens of seafood restaurants and shops, is about 9 minutes away; a trip to the magnificent Howth Summit is about 12 minutes away; and Sutton Cross, the nearest area to shop for necessities, is about a 7-minute walk or 3-minute bus trip away.  3) The entire site of the house is beautiful.  The garden is elegant, with more kinds of flowers, trees, and bushes than I can list, many of them labelled so you can know what fragrances are in the air.  The view from the garden is of Dublin Bay directly in front of you, some of the cliffs of Howth to the left, and Bull Island in front, with the hills of Wicklow in the distance; and parts of North Dublin to the right.  Most nights, the sky above Dublin is a mix of lavender, pink, and pale blue, and the hills of Howth to your left show all the different shades of green lit by the sun.  Inside the house, in addition to the bedrooms, there is a comfortable lounge with three soft sofas, an upholstered chair, a television, and another 'public' room with tea and sweet biscuits always available. 4) The shower had the hottest water and strongest flow of any Irish B & B of my experience over the past 40 years. 5)  For those who are hungry in the morning, breakfast is the best meal of the day.  The coffee is poured from a French press; the tea is strong and delicious; the croissants are homemade; the porridge is perfect; eggs come from the chicken who lives in a safe coop behind the house; and there is always more, corn fritters, tarts, French toast, enough to give you strength for every cliff walk in Howth.  And finally, 6) the hosts, Bea and David, can't do enough to make their guests happy and comfortable, all the usual help (ordering a taxi, giving you extra food, explaining the bus routes, etc.) and more  (lending paper, supplying books, engaging in conversation on almost any subject, or giving you privacy and silence).  -- We wanted to be near the sea, to relax, to escape the stresses of ordinary life; we did, and we can't thank Bea and David enough.

The Best B & B in Ireland

My mom and I visited the Artist Residence during our stay in Dublin and it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Bee and David's care, attention to detail and warmth cannot be matched and Clarissa's daily treats are super delicious. Their place is so warm and homey and every single detail is thought of. The selection of teas/coffees and treats are delicious and breakfast every morning was something we looked forward to. It is a short bus ride into the city of Dublin and so worth the stay. I would highly recommend this to any one looking for the perfect spot just a bit outside of Dublin.

Amazing stay at this B&B

This was mine & my husband's first stop when vacationing in Ireland. It was a great way to start off our stay! Begona & David were very accomaditing and went above-&-beyond for us. Everything from the bedroom to the dining room & sitting room was clean and crisp. Breakfast was tasty woth several options. There was plenty of coffee & tea available 24 hours and daily treats after 3pm. Would definitely recommend staying at The Artist Residence! 

Beautiful Stay!

An excellent B & B, we felt well cared for and respected by our hosts, Clarissa and David. Our laundry was done without any fuss and we even had a bagged breakfast ready for us when we were leaving. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place to rest and enjoy all that the area has to offer. AND the bus stop is only a few minutes away.

B&B at it’s very best.

My husband and I were blessed to have spent 5 incredible nights at this immaculate , adoringly furnished and inviting b n b. Yes I will say up front that the bedroom was small ( 3 bedrooms en suite in all) but the room was still so comfortable, with fresh flowers , robes, fine linens and plenty of hot water. But the real selling point of this b n b is not just its location ( away from The hubbub of Dublin, yet an easy bus ride in and across from the Bay) but the proprietor Begonia , who is the kindest, most helpful and serves an absolutely delicious personal breakfast each morning. And bakes treats for the afternoon and coffee/tea/wine always available. And I must mention David (her lovely partner ) who serves a delicious French press coffee in the morning. Truly there is nothing that this delightful duo wouldn’t do to make your visit the most special.

Creme de le creme

The Artist Residence Dublin near Howth is a great place to stay. We were lucky to find it. Our hosts were the most friendly and helpful we ever had. Although outside Dublin it has great connections to the city centre and is perfectly located to visit Howth peninsula and harbour. The breakfast was a great treat and unforgettable. Hopefully we will come some time soon.

Lovely B&B

This was most accurate of your reviews.  Actually, the entire experience, from ambience, comfort, personal care, makes me feel as if I'm writing an Ad for Artists.  It is wonderful.
Not the easiest to find but totally worth it. Don't miss conversations with Begona; she will fill  you with stories and lore guiding to little nooks and crannies, songs and stories of renown, all enriching your visit.  I would rate more than 5 stars if I could.

A truly peaceful stay in Victorian themed surroundings with restful views of lovely gardens (including chickens and Siamese cat Nadal) and overlooking Bull Island to the front. Add welcoming tea and cake in the charming sitting room and a gourmet array of breakfast cereals, pastries, breads fruit and generous hot Irish breakfast fare served by most friendly hostess Begona with help from David plus a bright airy bedroom with original ornaments and artwork and you have the Artist Residence. A real and delightful alternative experience to B & Bs/hotels which is unreservedly recommended for quality environment and service.
