very kind hostess and beautiful scenery, very nice breakfast and spacious rooms with genuine irish art. would reccomend to anyone doing a trip around ireland considering the free breakfast and lovely atmosphere. will be visiting again!

This was my third time to Ashgrove House. I cannot visit Ireland without staying with my favorite hosts! They are always warm and welcoming with Irish Coffee and scones. The breakfast was fantastic but my favorite part is the conversation! This fabulous couple has taken us to church, picked us up at night after the Bunratty Dinner. They make you feel like family!

Feel like family 

We stayed here at both ends of our 2016 tour to Ireland with Inishfree Tours for a total of 3 nights. The last night was unplanned as our flight was canceled. Sheila and Frank made staying here a wonderful experience!

Helped us out a lot

Innkeeper Sheila has the warmth of heart I remember from my grandmother Rose Fitzgerald. Able to either laugh or cry at the drop of her hat (and heart), the true caring you receive at Ashgrove House lasts forever. The roses in the garden are the sign of true heart-beauty: hospitality that includes the very wellbeing of the guests ("get hours of sleep right now, and you'll be good to go this very evening") as well as their comfort. Equal parts chef, tour guide, local historian: you'll not miss a blessed thing going on in the area-and you'll get some darned good tales, to boot! Have not had richer hospitality anywhere in the world...

We stayed with Sheila and Frank for one evening of our trip at Ashgrove House . Our room was warm, comfortable and they both could not have been more accommodating. 
When we woke for breakfast Sheila was singing in the kitchen, happily baking scones for us. Frank was quite charming and friendly. They actually sat with us over breakfast and we loved the stories we exchanged. They were so warm and friendly it made leaving  difficult. We would have liked if they joined us on the rest of our travels.I highly recommend you stay at Ashgrove house with this wonderful couple. True Irish hospitality at its finest .

Home away from home ,Irish hospitality at its finest.

Sheila & Frank provided us with true Irish hospitality from beginning to end.  Sheila scones are to die for, & her charm will make you feel comfy.  I strongly recommend staying at this place if you want the Irish experience. Love them!  

Best Irish B&B in the country.

A friend recommended Ashgrove House to us and we're grateful. It's a wonderful place. Best of all are Sheila and Frank, who welcome you in every way you'd want. Such nice people. It's a bit of a hike (1 mile?) to Bunratty Castle and the Folk Park and we didn't have a car. And it was raining. No problem. After serving up tea and scones when we arrived, Sheila drove us to the castle and park where we spent a few hours. We passed up the Medieval banquet and ate at a pub/bar. No problem getting "home." We had the bartender call Ashgrove House and Frank picked us up in 5 minutes. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great. Our flight out of Shannon Airport was at 1100 and Sheila had a taxi at the front door at 0815. It's only a 15-minute ride to the airport. One regret: I passed up he Irish coffee Sheila offered. Next time for sure. I give Ashgrove House my highest recommendation.

Like home but with better service

You'll be pleased to stay here.  Sheila is a treat.  Warm, welcoming & straight up Irish.  She cares about comfort (heated mattress pads), serves a fantastic breakfast with lots of choices, & stands ready to help you make transportation plans &/or run you into town in her own car.  I stayed 3 nights at Ashgrove & immediately felt right at home.  The first night, Sheila generously shared wine with me & she's also known for serving Irish coffee in the early evening  The rooms are clean & comfortable & the location (near to Shannon airport & Bunratty) is great.  You won't regret staying here.

Full Irish hospitality

First off, Bunratty is a tourist trap town that should definitely be passed by in favor of some genuine Irish experiences. But if you must go - The owners and hosts of this B&B are lovely people, but I'm very sorry to say that this place is past its prime. The beds sag, the plumbing needs work, the wifi is a joke. The breakfast is ok but pretty basic. If you are really trying to pinch your pennies, then you may be ok with this, but for my money there are better choices, both in this town and beyond it.
