This small B&B is a wonderful, historical place to escape from the cities and truly experience Italian hospitality.  Giorgio and Elisabetta are wonderful hosts, and even though they speak limited English, their care for their guests shines through in every gesture, meal and the home itself - From welcome espresso and juice, Grappa and homemade Limoncello in the evening and fabulous breakfasts in the morning, every detail is done to perfection and with joy.  (Breakfast is so plentiful that they also give you plates and bags in order to take away what is left for a snack later in the day - and with homemade apple cake, torta, fresh bread, etc., you want to take everything with you!)

There is a nice sized shared space and covered patio all with a beautiful view of the countryside.  The rooms are nicely done and of a good size.  The bathrooms are separate and depending on the number of guests, you may have to share a bathroom (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - only 1 with shower stall.)  We were a group of two couples, so it was just the four of us, so we found the place perfect for our needs.

Lucca is 5 miles away and Pisa is a short 25 minute drive through the countryside - we visited both as well as Cinque Terre (an hour drive) from our base at La Pieve.  They are also willing to serve breakfast to meet your travel requirements for the day which was very helpful on the day we were touring Cinque Terre.

And even though we were not looking for a budget B&B, the cost for this location and all that was included was amazing.

I cannot recommend La Pieve highly enough - I will definitely go back if I am ever in the region again even if just to experience the warmth of hospitality and peaceful location!

Molto bene - A hidden gem in the foothills of Lucca!

La Peve has an excellent location overlooking a great Tuscan landscape. We were given a very warm welcome by the hosts who are extremely helpful and generous. The place is nicely decorated and the room is spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast is the best we've had in Italy. Our host insisted that we pack the unfinished food for a later picnic. 

Simply the best !

We stayed at La Pieve di Sant'Andrea for 5 days. 5 fantastic days. 
Giorgio, owner of the place was extremely helpful.
Every day we recived home made, tasty, variety breakfast prepared by his wife Elisabeth - there is really slight possibility that you can finish everything but you can always take rest of the food for take away.
If you would like to find really good restaurant at reasonable (by this I mean Margerita 5 Euro/Pasta 7-9 Euro) - ask Giorgio. We took his advice and went to one of his favourite places - really really good. 3 km from La Pieve di Sant'Andrea and for sure the best food we ate in whole Tuscany! (La Vecchia Posta)
If it come do bedrooms - cozy, big, comfortable and what is most important - cool, so you won't die from the hot Italian weather during the summer ;) 
There is also common space (with TV if you need), patio for smokers (or for those who would like to drink Limoncello, that is made by Elisabeth and brought by Giorgio every evening!), sunbeds for sunlovers, barbecue for those who will be bored with the pasta or pizza! 
All in all it was really one of the best places in whole tuscany and for sure the owner is the nicest man we've ever met during our trips!

Excellent/fabulous place

If I could rate  La Pieve di Sant' Andrea 6 stars- I would.  Just 6km from Lucca, from the moment we drove up the driveway and gazed up and saw Goirgio coming down to greet us, I fell in love with La Pieve! Set high up off the regional road, the views are beautiful and peaceful.  The various terraces of the garden, invite you to linger longer and enjoy the landscape.  Step inside to a beautifully restored 300 year old nunnery which offers 3 elegant rooms ( private bathrooms just off the hallway) and a lovely cosy sitting room with dining tables where breakfast is served.  Giorgio immediately brought us refreshments and showed us around.  That evening Georgio brings out the Lemoncello with 2 glasses and leaves it for our enjoyment.   Breakfast was a surprise, the most delicious home cooked delights arrived, fresh fruit salad, platters of meat & cheese, croissants, rolls, delicious baked savoury pastries,  and Elisabetta's melt in the mouth cakes ( a new delight each morning)  Way to much food for 2 people.  Well along comes Giorgio with foil & bags.  'Please take any food for your lunch'. 
 This place oozes HOSPITALITY!!!   Bottled water is freely available and the gorgeous Elisabetta even did our washing.  We have been travelling for 6 weeks now and La Pieve di Sant' Andrea is THE BEST!!!!  Grazie Millie Elisabetta Giorgio & Danielle - we will always remember our 3 nights in your home.
PS-I really don't have any idea what the previous poster thinks, but SHE is in Italy...and this family do speak some English...enough to get by..Danielle is particularly fluent!

We Will Return for Elisabetha's Torta

This is a pretty B&B, with lovely food and atmosphere, with very clean amenities and generous, delicious breakfasts. 

We were disappointed with the cigarette smell that wafted up from the caretakers quarters below, which was partially disguised with strong air fresheners, if you are allergic or sensitive to cigarette smoke, this is not the place for you. We needed to have the windows open, and there is some noise from the nearby freeway. 

Giorgio, and Daniele were friendly and helpful. A little more English would have been helpful, but we managed quite well.
