we loved the peaceful atmosphere and the mediterranean landscape around us. The dammuso is decorated with "tanto gusto". Several places with shadow, sunny and cosy corners ... everyone finds his perfect personal chilling zone. 

Paradise - harbour of peace

Tenuta Borgia is a special place situated on nearly 35 acres of vineyard, caper fields, fruit trees and palms. The accommodations, private antique Dammusi, are beautifully renovated.  Airy and spacious, each one with unique features, all with private outdoor spaces.  Sergio (the Manager) and staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely week spent in an exotic place...

Pinch me - am I dreaming?

We very much enjoyed the comfortable, clean dammuso.  The surrounding farm was lovely as well.  It was so quiet and peaceful.  The breeze off the sea was refreshing and the stars at night are beautiful. The check in/out process was smooth and without hassle.  Well managed.
 

The best place to relax

Funny old place Pantelleria... It's true what they say that you arrive wondering if you've made a big mistake, and then you fall in love with it and never want to leave.  A major part of our not wanting to leave Pantelleria at the end of our holiday was Tenuta Borgia.  This was an absolutely perfect place for us.  Tucked away at the far southern end of the island, just about as far away from everything and everyone as you can get, the estate sits in splendid isolation in a wild and beautiful landscape of olive and pine trees, rosemary bushes and fields of wild flowers tamed by volcanic stone walls.  Our dammuso, La Vigna, was the most isolated of the estate's houses.  Simply but very well furnished, the house has a full kitchen, wifi, cable TV, thick towels and linen bedsheets.  Estate manager Sergio is wonderful.  Our flight to the island was 6 hours late leaving Palermo, meaning no trip to the supermarket to pick up supplies on arrival for us, so Sergio volunteered to do a shop for us and filled the fridge with enough food to keep us going for a few days over a holiday weekend, including fresh bread, a huge bowl of oranges for breakfast juice, a bottle of local wine and Tenuta Borgia's own olive oil and Passito.  Extraordinary.  Nothing was too much trouble for Sergio and he was a great source of info on restaurants and local attractions.  There really was nothing at all to fault with our stay.  Sitting with a glass of wine on our terrace watching the sun set over Tunisia, and then gazing at the incredible display of stars at night is something we will never forget.  The only note is that you'll need a car to get around the island from the estate - it's around a 10min ride to Scauri village.  And Tenuta Borgia is not a hotel - you can prepare your own meals or eat in some of the great restaurants on the island and Sergio will arrange for a cleaner to visit once in the week, other than that you are left to your own devices.  So if you want rest, silence, beauty and a bit of style thrown in, this is the place.  We didn't want to leave.

Just perfect

a great stay for one week, easy going, and Sergio was always helpful to our demands. a perfect place on the very quiet southside of the island to relax with a stunning natural surrounding, as the warm cala at Nika, or the natural sauna up the hill. Panteklleria is great and Tenuta Borgio is the perfect choice for a visit on the island.

dolce far niente

We came to Tenuto Borgia with high expectation because of the wonderful images of the place and the high price tag. Most expectation were met but the place does have some drawbacks. 

First of all, the property is beautiful. The downside of this is that it at the furthest point on the island from the main town. This was a plus for us as it’s very quiet and few cars drive by. 

The dammusi are very private and quite but quite isolated. So no one will bother you or be loud next to your room, but you might feel a bit removed from the life of the island. The isolation extends to that fact that there is no hotel life- no bar, no pool, no breakfast, no front desk. It’s basically like an Airbnb, which may or may not be what you are looking for. This might be perfect for some, but first timers to the island might have a problem being entirely on their own for food and even drinking water. 

The hotel manager is fantastic. Incredibly friendly and always just a text message away. 

Our dammuso was warm at night but that comes with the territory of the island. The place was also buggy which is an issue when you need to keep the windows open for the islands cool breeze. This was not enough to be a problem for us but could bother anyone who really doesn’t like insects or ants. 

You need a car if you stay here but that’s true of almost anywhere on the island.

A Nice Airbnb Experience

We stayed in a quite dammuso, surrounded by palm trees. It was furnished in a simple but cosy way. The staff was nice and helpful. We loved the privacy and the view from the terrace.

Cons:
- the private street to get to
the dammuso is really poorly maintained and very bumpy... be careful 
- the dammuso has no air conditioning and ... this could be an issue over night since it gets very hot during the day
- the maintenance of the interiors and the kitchenware and cutlery is poor and some of them were not well cleaned when we arrived
