We had a wonderful experience. The wine and food were amazing. The owner was attentive and shared his knowledge about the winemaking process. The setting is absolutely beautiful in the countryside with views of lake Garda. We walked through the vineyard after the tasting, which was a great finish to a perfect wine tasting experience in Italy. 

Amazing

This was definitely the best day we had during our trip to Lago di Garda! We felt so welcomed by Daniele and Chiara and the place itself was so beautiful and homely.
We visited in early June, and went for the total tasting experience which included the tour and wine tasting. Daniele was super passionate about the biodynamic wines they produce and the tour was very interesting. The wine tasting was amazing- we tasted 5 wines, each accompanied with an explanation and delicious local foods. 
A real bonus was the lovely cats that were super affectionate!
One thing to think about is transport- we got a taxi from Lazise and then back to where we were staying in Peschiera, and whilst it was a bit pricey to 
actually get there, it was SO worth it for the amazing experience. 
I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Garda, I know we will remember this afternoon with fondness for a long time <3 


beautiful vineyard and wine tasting experience

Ok, so I don’t often feel the need to write reviews, and my words will not do Villa Calicantus justice, but here goes.  We have just had probably the best day we have had ever whilst being on holiday. The family run vineyard, the wines, food and scenery are 100% perfect, the tour of the winery and vineyards was delivered with such knowledge and passion from the owner, our three hour booked trip ended up being four and a half.  If you want a idilic afternoon, sipping great wines, eating home made food and expanding your knowledge on Italian Organic and Bio-dynamic wines, I truly can recommend Villa Calicantus.
I took many pictures of this stunning Villa and it’s surroundings, but my favourite and the one that sums it up for me, is the picture of the barrels of wine in the winery, which have been given the personal touch from the families young children. 

An amazing experience I will never forget

Spent over three hours at Villa Calicantus and enjoyed every minute. Local/home-made snacks to go with very good wines, followed by a tour of the small winery and vineyard. The owner is obviously passionate about what he is doing and communicates this very well.Highly recommended.

Wine tasting and vineyard tour

We’ve just returned from the 5pm guided tour and food / wine experience. The vineyard is the smallest in Bardolino, but the only one to specialise in bio dynamic wine production - different to organic apparently! 

After a tour of the wine production areas and cellars we were taken to the vineyards. The view at the top is amazing!

Following the tour we were treated to 4 different plates, all matched with wines from the vineyard. The whole aura of the place is amazing. The hosts are kind and generous and the whole area is relaxed, l and something like you’ll have to go a long, long way to beat. Five stars isn’t enough!

It’s worth 6 stars!

We had a wonderful day at Villa Calicantus. It is a small family business with a biodynamic wine production. The scenary is so pretty, the family and staff are very attentive and the wine first class. Highly recommended! 

Lovely vineyard

We visited Villa Calicantus on the weekend. It was really amazing time. Set wine tasting and tour is what you can't miss if you are around Garda lake. Daniele,the owner of vinery is very passionate about what he is doing and creating. During the tour he was telling the story about vinery and you can feel that everything comes from his heart. We spent there all afternoon and felt like we are visiting our friends. Daniele and his family made our trip to Italy priceless and unforgettable. 
The wine and food which company it was delicious and atmosphere worth a million. The views from top of the hill are breathtaking.
I really recommend to visit Villa Calicantus, you will not gonna regret it.

The best

This place is amazing. It is beautiful and quiet. The host is very friendly and everything he is telling about the wine and the production is very interesting. 
The wine tasted good and the food was perfect. 
Thank you for a lovely visit! 

Interesting and nice wine tasting 

Very charming vineyard and restaurant. Friendly staff which you could tell knew a lot about their wines and food. We just popped by without booking in advance. They offer both small bites, wine by glass, set menus (5 wines + 5 dishes) and different types of organized wine tastings. They have their own garden where they grow the food they serve.

We understood that it was out of season, so we made the effort to look online, read over the website and call ahead to see if it was still possible to come and do a tasting. 
We spoke to a lovely gentleman who said that we were unable to do the full tasting, with the taster menu as it was Harvest time and they only do this on a Saturday, but that we were still very welcome and that we could walk around the vines ourselves and enjoy some wine tasting. Perfect, we thought.
We completely understood that it was out of season and were just thrilled to go, have a look and taste some wine. 

On arrival- it was another story. 
The place is gorgeous- just as I had hoped it would be, old farmhouse, bursting with character- I just couldn’t wait. 
Tables and chairs were set outside and we were excited.
We rang the bell and waited.
A woman finally came out- she was the wife of the wine maker. She looked at us as if to ask- ‘what are you doing here?’

She clearly looked exhausted and like we had interrupted her busy day.

We asked if we could some tasting. 
Silence.

She said ok.

She did not invite us to take a seat or try to welcome us or make us feel comfortable. She just pointed to 3 bottles and said that we could taste these. 

Silence. 

Not realising that we had to choose, we asked if we could taste all of them. She then took out 2 glasses and proceeded to pour out small samples for me and my partner. She told us perhaps 1 sentence about the wine, we tasted it. 

She then poured in the second sample and then when we had tasted it, she poured in the final sample. Same glass.

We were still standing in the doorway by the way. I still had my jacket and bag on. We did all this standing in the doorway in around 5 minutes- TOTAL.

Two hours driving  and this was our Italian wine tasting experience. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. 

That was it. Not to make it a complete bust I asked if we could see the vines. She said we could walk around ourselves. Which I knew we would have to do- but she didn’t even offer up this experience. 

So, we took a glass of wine and walked up to the vines determined to get something out of the experience. 

Best part: the gorgeous puppy that followed us around. 

The whole interaction was so awkward and unwelcoming. I tried to compliment the lady on the gorgeous property. All she said was - ‘it’s old.’ 
Awkward.

Clearly- CLEARLY- we had interrupted them on a busy day. I get that. I completely respect that, so just close. Don’t accept any more guests. Don’t say we’re welcome, when we clearly we’re not. 

We were the only guests there and clearly they didn’t want us there. 

Just don’t waste our time- as much as your own.

The reviews for this place were amazing, so I’m hopeful that this is an anomalous seasonal issue. But I was so disappointed that I would hate for others, out of season, to be so also.
