Returned from autumn holidays from tohoku and one of the highlights from the trip was the luxurious hospitality, comfort and stunning food from the hotel.

The hotel itself is located just at the foot of the hachimantai mountain where the gorgious matsukawa (松川) gorge is and where the jukai (树海) drive starts. 5 mins drive will get you the mesmerising autumn leaf walk that will kick start your autumn adventures.

The hotel itself spots a lucious onsen with option to be at the open air section. Alternatively, one can opt for a room with private bath tube made of cyprus wood and enjoy the same bath in the privacy of your room. 

The hospitality is almost butler like. The food is luxurious both in portions and quality. Let the photos tell the story. Unique to the hotel is the tofu and onsen egg bowl. Again, let the photos tell the story.

Overall, it is one of the most luxurious stays in our stay in japan over the years.

Excellent luxury hotel for Autumn leaves and

I arrived in a cold evening snowing but the staff came to pick me up with a smile to the parking lot and got my bags. Everyone at the reception desk or dinner, the staff will respond with a smileful feeling.
The building is old, but cleaning is attentive. The room is comfortable with Japanese and Western style. The snowy garden which is visible from the lobby is beautiful.
It is a hotel operated by a locally famous butcher, so the meal is definitely delicious.
The hot spring was very comfortable and I slept very well.
Quiet environment is very wonderful.

Hot spa to be healed and staff with good hospitality

Our favorite place we stayed in the North! Our room had a mountain view and the balcony had a mini zen garden and an outdoor tub. It was truly spectacular. The staff is kind even though not much English is spoken. The meals were really delicious.  It’s a beautiful area and we had a great stay. We would definitely recommend it if you’re in Northern Honshu.

Very kid-friendly and all staff are well-trained for behaving respectfully toward all guests. There are all ''Omotenashi'' here. Onsen is not so hot, so my boy could enjoy. Free Wifi(but a bit weak and narrow) and free table tennis. Try them!!

The Best ''Omotenashi'' ryokan

Very traditional, old-style Japanese mountain onsen resort (newspaper clips show that the Imperial family stayed there a few decades ago).
Rooms are a little average (Japanese style), would need to be refreshed a little.

That being said, the food was very nice (typical dinner/room/breakfast Japanese package) and the service was outstanding, even by Japanese standards (one waiter discussed food, sake and gave good advice on touristic spots around, even followed us to our car on the parking for a 'goodbye' bow).

Recommended if you want to have a great 60's resort experience!
