Nice staff and great value 優しいスタッフさん、安い宿泊

This hotel is in a great location less than 5 minutes from the train station, close to restaurants, bars etc. and is a great base for walking around the city. The rooms are small, but very clean. Although the staff speak limited English, they are very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Small rooms in great location

Although the last two reviews were 2-3 years old, I found that they are still valid during my recent stay. This review is to supplement what had been mentioned previously, and I'll touch on the extras.
First and foremost, the hotel is well hidden inside an alley, not easily located without looking on my google map, especially they do not have name shown in English, but there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around nonetheless. I regard them as a business hotel, but with prices very much lower than most conventional business hotels in Japan. Surprisingly despite the rates, in terms of facilities, they surpasses some of the big players, with quality Simmons mattress, free bicycle rental (honestly, this is all the transport you need within the city), free morning coffee in the lobby, free tea bags throughout the day (both red and green). The room, though tiny, is not uncommon from most business hotels in Japan, yet kettle, in-room safe etc are provided, as well as Bidet toilet and bath tub. The staffs we encountered spoke almost no English, but absolutely friendly, making our stay a truly pleasant one.

Business Hotel Class at Budget Price

The Welcome Hotel in Matsumoto is located a very short walk from the train station even with bags it is not difficult (less than 5mins). 

This is a well run basic hotel that we had decided to stay at for 1 night before we transferred to an Onsen further from the town centre. But it really surprised us with not just the location and the cheap price but it had everything we needed and was clean and the staff were very polite and helpful.

The room was small but that is normal in Japan and was not an issue for us at all. We stayed here in April 2015 and it was very cold (the day we arrived it was 4 degrees Celsius). The room heating worked well and we could open the window if we needed fresh air. The facilities at the hotel were basic but we did not mind at all especially given the very cheap price. 

There are several convenience stores within a minute or 2 walk and there are many restaurants and bars just round the corner, again all very convenient.

I would stay here again if I needed to stay in the centre of Matsumoto and save my money to spend on other things.
