Very good place to stay for a night or two if exploring the area. Great atmosphere and the terrace has views up into the mountains and the river below. Dining/ living has lots of games and instruments. Plenty to keep kids busy.

Great spot for a break

Momonga Village guesthouse is a dream come true for any backpacker. Full of super friendly people, fantastic atmosphere, exciting location and comfortable rooms. We absolutely loved it. Such a charming place to meet other adventurers!

Brilliant place

Tucked away in a lush green valley, a great home stay for exploring the area and white water rafting. Had a car so can't comment on public transport in the area. Tasty evening meals using some local produce. So peaceful. Good hot showers and a loo with a view! Staff so friendly and helpful. Rustic charm and lived our stay.

A truly Japanese experience! 

I stayed here with my husband and friends for 9 nights during the World Rafting championships. We loved it! The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. The accommodation is simple yet very comfortable and has a very authentic Japanese feel, and the home-cooked food was excellent. We drove from Osaka (about 4 hours) in rented cars, and were given great advice about local places to visit.

A fantastic Japanese experience!

We stayed 4 night & used it as our base to explore the area & relax.
Our room was great, it was clean, good aircon & comfortable double thickness Japanese style fit on beds.
The staff were great, they were all eager to help & collectively had a good knowledge of the features on offer in the Iya Valley.
We opted for dine in dinner on two night & the traditional Japanese style food was very tasty.
Free wifi available in the lounge area & easy car parking at the front of the premises.
There is a train station not far from the guest house & the staff are very happy to pickup/ drop off at the station if that’s how your travelling.
We had a car & found that option worked very well for us, giving us the flexibility to stop at random point of interest that are not on any maps.
Speaking of maps the local Tourist Information Service were extremely helpful & were able to “dig” out an invaluable English map that also had highlighted features with additional information about the highlighted interest point.


Great quirky guest house with lots of atmosphere 

Only stayed for one day but wish it had been a bit longer. Staff were super friendly and cooked awesome japanese homemade food. Overall clean facilities and laid back vibe for those wishing for a place with character instead of a bland chain hotel.

Great staff, felt like home

I stayed in the dorm here for three nights. The location in the middle of the Iya Valley is peaceful. It is a great chance to escape.
However there are no lockers in the dorm room. The common area is also small so it can get noisy early in the morning and late at night. The house is Japanese style so it is quaint but if you are over 170 cm expect to hit your head daily.
