Hi, 
My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience renting a van from Hero Travel Support!  We booked the van from the United States and communication with Hero was great.  Hero and his wife helped us with train schedules from Kyoto to Onomichi.   After a night spent in one of their traditional Japanese guest rooms we got the van and were off to travel wherever we wanted for 8 days.  We fell in love with that van.  
Hero spent a lot of time setting up the van to have everything we would need for our camping adventure, from sleeping bags to cook stoves, tables, chairs, plates and silverware.  Plus the van came with a GPS that we found invaluable.  
Onomichi is a nice town and worth a visit and the best thing about it is that it's the gateway to a chain of islands in the Inland Sea.  We found the islands to be fascinating, relaxing and well off the beaten path.  We were able to pursue our fixation with the onsen life, at will, and every chance we got.  For our meals we could stop anywhere that suited us and enjoy a home made meal surrounded by incredible scenery.  When we wanted to sleep we just pulled over and made the back of the van our bed.  That orange farmer is probably still wondering who it was that was camped out in his orchard for 4 nights.
Thanks to Hero Travel Support for providing us with a unique experience.  If you are looking to tackle the roads of Japan and see the countryside up close and personal we highly recommend HTS!!!

HTS guesthouse and van rental

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GUESTHOUSE, THEIR VAN AND ONOMICHI, THE GATEWAY TO THE INLAND SEA!!!!!!!! Mai and Hero were great hosts and everything is so nice and new in their guesthouse in Onomichi. They have everything, including a wonderful breeze throughout the hostel, but more importantly a BIG kitchen, BIG bathroom and a restaurant downstairs that serves the best strong coffee around. They really know what they are doing and offer a van rental, creating the freedom to drive all over the islands or any place their GPS takes you to. The first big island is about a minute on a ferry and the ferry terminal is very very close to the HTS Guesthouse. The train station is also only about a 7 minute walk. They made everything convenient and easy. A perfect location.

Best Experience in Japan!

We stayed at the new HTS Guesthouse twice while travelling for a month in Japan. Before arriving in Japan, we were a bit afraid about how it's gonna be in Japan without speaking Japanese, not knowing much about the culture, but right at the beginning we were at this great place where the owners Hiro & Mai took away those doubts from us really fast - we felt welcome from the very first moment, it is such a heartful place!
When it comes to rooms, you can choose western- or japanese-style. We went for japanese-style, these rooms are very spacious, clean and nicely equipped. Really good and cheap laundry service and wi-fi available.

We loved sitting in the café 1770 which belongs to the guesthouse. Modern interior and a big choice of great coffees, actually some of the best we tasted in Japan, thanks Mai! Baby Kiho's smiles and the great sweets from Hiro made our stay here unforgettable;-)

HTS also has a rental-car service and we rented one of their two campervans to travel around the South of Japan for three weeks. Small but perfectly equipped campervans, very economic. Great value for what you get. They provided us with lots of local tips about where to go and to stay, just great service.
