A Camp with personal touch. All the staff are very genuine, warm and kind. 
I misses them so much.  No mosquitoes but hippos are just down the river beside the camp. Food is good, service excellent. Throughout the night, the guards are patrolling the site outside our camp as I saw light’s rays ( from their torch ) every now and then in our tent. Special thanks to Kelvin who escorted us in the nights. Bravo to all the staffs who work there.

Unforgettable experience !

Wonderful experience with exceptional personnel who genuinely care for one's every need to ensure 100% enjoyment throughout the visit.  Beautifully located inside Masai Mara on the banks of the Talek River with each tent and restaurant overlooking its view.  The food is excellent with each delicious dish professionally presented and served this makes for an anticipated enthusiasm for the next meal!  Then following a long and highly fulfilling day one falls asleep on the comfortable bed to the valuable bush sounds of hippos snorting and splashing feet away hyenas 'singing' close by and  lions roaring regularly.  In the morning the same acts as your alarm call!
Mark the manager has a true concern for his guests and each small detail is attended to thoughtfully and successfully. I achieved super superb sightings during my 4 nights (wish it were 14) on this unexpectedly amazing first visit to Julia's River Camp although it was my 8th visit to the Mara. The professionalism and consideration cannot be overstated and I have no hesitation in recommending and hopefully  return.

What an exceptional place to stay at Masaii Mara.  An incredible, beautiful setting on the Taleki River inside Masaii Mara.  Hippos and hyenas to serenade you.  Masaii warriors to escort you to your luxurious comfortable tented suites.  The food is amazing. All of the staff are brilliant.  Diana is an excellent cook.  She made the best pan fried fish.  Everything was yummy.  Gideon the Julia’s camp manager is super attentive and always welcoming.  Even had laundry done and they did amazing. Love this place.

Exceptional place to stay

We stayed at some 'luxury' hotels on our African trip but this was the best 3 nights we had while traveling in Kenya. The staff were friendly and cater to your every need and the food was outstanding. The best part was listening to the sounds of Africa as we slept--lions at a distance and hippos in the river. The whole experience was absolutely perfect! Thanks, Julia's!!!

With the family, from Barcelona, we spent Christmas at Julia's River Camp and the stay was really amazing. 
We had the driver "Lion" (I don't know if I'm spelling it right) as our Safari guide in Masai Mara for three days, and I think he was the best thing that happened to us during the whole trip. A very kind and nice guy who made us see everything we wanted to see during the safari. If you go there, ask for him, he will make you live the best experience possible.

Julia's River Camp was fantastic. They communicated well with us prior to our visit and made us feel at home right away. The entire staff was helpful, from the manager to our wonderful chef/waiter George to the night security who gave us a nice fire to enjoy in the evenings and helped us see the hippos down in the river after dark to the various support staff. We had a nice walking tour when we arrived to see hippos and a croc and game drives with our very experienced guide, where we saw everything we were hoping to. Cheetahs, male lions, crocs. and leopards were the ones missing from my list and were able to see cheetahs and male lions feeding, 2 crocs. and a lazy leopard, along with close encounters with elephants, giraffes, and many more. The tent was comfortable with good amenities. I would absolutely recommend Julia's and hope to return myself.

Stay at Julia's

It is a basic, but spacious and well equipped tent camp. In suite toilet/sink/shower with hot water/great pressure. Coursed meals B/L/D - my favorite food of the entire trip! You are near the river with hippos and crocs, which was amazing. You can watch the Mara's animals as you sip pre game drive tea. Camp staff escort you around camp after night as hippos come on land then to graze. I loved the camp fires every night! 

Become part of the safari! 

Looking at the online reviews and photos, Julia's seemed like the perfect camp for us. We are not into luxury or swimming pools in the Mara. Though we had initial hiccups, we loved the staff in the VIP Camp and other camps too. Kelvin our nightly escort is a Masai and was a delight in the nightly sundowners. He used to point with his torch crocodiles, hippos in the river and cape buffaloes trying to sneak into the camp. We felt he knew a great deal about the animals and their behaviors than what we heard from our initial driver who picked us us from the airstrip and took us on one of the game drives. Gideon and Rhoda in the VIP Mess tent made sure we got the perfect cutlery for every meal? Like this isn't even a five star hotel in the city, but they were very careful about how the food was presented and served. We learnt a great deal about Kenyan life through them. Kantai our driver guide was awesome! He has some guide books in his car, he had a great network to know where the best sightings were. He always went above and beyond to show us animals we requested. Until we went on a game drive one day with another guide due to some logistical misunderstanding, we didn't realise how good Kantai was! Ask for Kantai definitely, all other drivers might not be that great for sightings.

About the camp itself, the tents were fine and safe. No insects inside the tent if you keep the zipper closed. There is incentive to book the VIP camp itself, we clubbed on game drives with people from the Hippo camp and we liked mingling with them nevertheless. There was only soap and handwash in the washroom, get your own shampoo and lotion. Food was a hit and a miss. But overall, we enjoyed our trip a great deal and this camp is good value for money. Would definitely stay here again if we visit Mara region.

A Great Experience Overall

Julias River camp is amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful,  the food was also amazing, breakfast was very filling before the safaris, the packed lunches were lovely and the dinner was delicious! The wildlife was outstanding, as we were in tent 10 by the river, during the night a buffalo passed our tent and left tracks in the morning, we also saw 2 hippos quite regularly on our stay which was amazing. Joseph and Brian were very nice! I really reccomend this camp!

A great experience with lovely staff

This camp is absolutely amazing!!! We (myself and my mother) stayed there for three nights from 11-13 June and had such a wonderful experience. Firstly, the camp itself is so beautifully located- our first lunch we felt watchful eyes and looked up and there was giraffes watching from across the stream! We saw also saw elephants, dik-diks, crocodiles, hippos, zebras and wildebeests without actually leaving camp! It is also just beautiful with the river and greenery! Secondly, the staff are incredible. Lovely, friendly, helpful, find solutions- my mother needs a medical device at night and they made sure they found a solution so she could have it. And the food- so delicious (particularly the spicy meatballs and soups). Thirdly, it’s a “camp” but the tents had a shower, toilet, lights and so much space- if that was camping, I’d do it more often! So impressed!
