The general setting is nice and charming but the rooms need a bit more renovation , found that walls and floors were a bit old, double room was on the small side so was the tv and you have to share communal showers. A lot of mosquito was able to get in , perhaps due to the season that we went in. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was good though and location is decent. Recommend you do more research if you want a more comfortable place but generally it was good value and you get what you pay for. 

Good value and location 

It looked great on the bookings site. .... Location is good, but that's about it.  Started with check in. I arrived about 1.5 hours earlier than estimated time at 5 pm.  The staff member was sitting surfing the net.  Said I needed to wait as the room had not been cleaned. Got into the 'deluxe queen' room.  Tiny (that's OK) shutter door fell off when I opened it and no wifi in the room. The 'river view' was teeny.  A lot of money for what is essentially a backpackers. The staff member was hard to find, in fact when I checked out he could not been found so I left the cash on the desk with a note!  I moved out of the 'deluxe room' as I needed wifi, into another internal room...again needed to wait for this one to be cleaned again.  It seemed that the staff member was wanting to do the absolute minimum required at the latest possible time. with so so wifi, but ants all over the wall and into my backpack.  I asked to check out one day early as the room was  not as described.  That was fine, but he made my booking,com as a 'no show' meaning I wasn't able to leave a review!  I'd not go back.

Bad service, overpriced, avoid!!!

Place was okay, but the staffmember was always in a rush. When we came in at 8 pm, we were sent quickly to our room, short briefing where the toilets were, but he did'nt even ask how long we wanted to stay/didn't write down our names. Breakfast was just toast, nothing more, so we skipped that. When we want to extend our stay till saturday, he said the rooms were more expensive in weekend, it was a weird story and again, he was on a rush to go somewhere else. So he gave us the key to a more expensive and smaller room, and left. We dicided we didn't want this (bad feeling), so we put the money for the first two nights somewhere in his desk and left. Went back 2 times to talk to him about this, but 2 times he wasn't there.

Nothing to see here folks a bunch of damp rooms with thin wooden beds and dim lights a tiny area to sit and watch the world go by but i left after one night and any hotel on this stretch is better than this , nice young guy looking after the place so not even staffed most of the time. Cheap but so is next door or next door to that where some one will cook and serve you a beer.

Left early and got refund a unloved building with a youung couple as care takers doing a friend a favour

We booked a family room through Booking.com. The description of the accommodation sounded fair and decent for the price. We were so wrong. So very wrong. 

For a 3-person room (queen size bed + single bed) costing more than RM200 a night, it was daylight robbery at its best. 

The beds were terribly uncomfortable and creaky. The mattress has gone way past its prime with sunken springs.

There is no ensuite bathroom. This is a shocker for a room that cost more than RM200 a night. A bloody inconvenience, I tell ya. The bathrooms are on the other end of the building - hostel-like shared facilities. There are only 2 toilets, one of them is ensuite with a shower, so effectively there is only one usable toilet if all the bathrooms are occupied. 

The room price included breakfast, and breakfast was nothing to write home about. Roti canai and nasi lemak bungkus. There was bread and jam too, and coffee / tea. Self service, hostel-like again. For more than RM200 a night, this is aweful. We had our breakfast elsewhere, much better food and certainly a lot healthier.

The staff were pleasant enough, but they could learn to be more interactive with their guests. 

One of them is the nephew of the owner, a Malacca native. He was very nice. 

The accommodation advertised itself as a restored heritage premise. Well, that's not entirely true. They spruced it up with s boring new coat of paint 10 years ago (its starting to peel now), some cheap IKEA furniture here and there. Hmm, that's about it. We walked past several other places that were truely interesting, for a much cheaper price. This isn't one of them for sure.

Overall, we didn't like our stay. We found it a rip-off to charge RM200 a nght for something so very basic and unpleasant. 

We will not come back, and we'd recommend that you look elsewhere too. There are so many options in the Joker area with far more character, better vibe, and cheaper. Certainly not difficult to be better value than this dump. There are several places on the same street as this that have so much better rooms for cheaper. 

So, you've been warned. 

Very poor value and terribly uncomfortable. Please look elsewhere. Lots of far better choices in the same street.
