What a great week-long break! Fouad's place is perfect for the relaxed trip we needed. The sea view, as others have said, from the apartment is wonderful and the apartment is clean and has everything you need (thanks to the lovely ladies who come in to clean every day). The flat is near plenty of little restaurants and bars on the main square for people-watching. Essaouira is a beautiful, interesting and friendly place - and Fouad's place is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

I traveled to Essaouira on the 17th of May and stayed there for two nights. During our (my girlfriend and I) stay in the town, we decided to choose a place inside the Medina and close to the main square/port, but not too close to be with all the tourist. This place Dar Fouad is great for a quiet place as it is near the North Wall and overlooking the sea, so all rooms apart from the bottom room has a great view with a small balcony. Though, right at the top there is a terrace for all rooms to share. Good for taking pictures, seeing the sunset and good enough for sunbathing...but not too long! It was hot (40+ degrees Celsius) in May!
From the airport, if you either take a local taxi (standard price: 150 Dirams in 2016) or wait for the airport coach (every 2 hours), everyone is dropped off outside the Medina (walls) and you have to walk in and find your way to your hotel/accommodation. Luckily, it was pretty much straight forward for us and I did take the address down before I left, but Dar Fouad is hard to find as there is no sign. Luckily, I thought we were at the right place and the shopkeeper next door helped to call the owner. He was not in, but luckily the cleaner was in cleaning the rooms. She showed us the first room, which is an apartment for a family....too big for us and we saw on the website we used to pay for the place - rooms with a view. We requested this and she showed us to a room where clearly someone had just left. She told us to leave our bags and explore the town and when we were back it would be fixed. We did this and when we came back it was fine. Annoyingly since the cleaner did not speak a word of English we couldn't ask for the WiFi code and we had to wait the next day for when Fouad (the owner) came to see us.
This place is more like an Airbnb than a hotel as all the rooms are studios and self-catering. I did not mind this, but a warning for others who expect breakfast in the morning. Just go out to a local patisserie.
The room we were in had everything in one big room: near the windows looking at the sea-views we had a small kitchenette and joint living room area and towards the back there was a double bed and near that a bathroom which is only separated by a shower curtain. So, you cannot really use the toilet privately. It is quite basic, but I liked it and gave it a 'Very Good' do to the independence, quiet and convenient location. If I were to go back to Essaouira I would see deals of other places before coming back to here, but I know what to expect from this place now.
