The Hira is a beautifully maintained traditional guest house meaning the doorways are low.
The host, Yelous was extremely gracious and provided us with lots of information regarding the area and customs. Also the Guest house is steps from the Golden Temple and Durban Square.
If you are looking for an authentic experience look no further.

Authentic Nepalese Experience

Amazing location within 1 block of Patan's medieval Durbar square.   The bulding is so old and charming.  I love the staircase. 
 Very cosy and the family so welcoming.  Dinner felt like a family get together but with other travellers. 
  Yelos the owner gave me a tour of the local back streets, courtyards, and alley ways of the medieval town that you would never get from a normal guide.   This is a living place you wont easily find anywhere. Highly recommend this place. 

Step back to another time in patan

We have had an extraordinary stay at Hira Guesthouse. In all senses, the charming Newari house, all the delicate details and attentions of Manju and Nishan, the peaceful spot where it is located but at the same time so close to Patan lovely atmosphere and Durbar square. Manju is an extraordinary host, and cook, she even organized a lovely dinner preparing Nepali local dish, Dhiro, that was so tasty and delicious. Breakfasts are incredibly plentiful and varied. Everything was more than perfect. We are looking forward to come back and we highly recommend to stay at this accomodation if wishing to discover Patan and have a rest from hectic Kathmandu.

A delicate gem in historical Patan

Hira Guest House is the *most worthy* guest house in Kathmandu!
The location is directly across the street from The Golden Temple and just around the corner from Patan Durbar Square.   The host, Monju, is warm and welcoming.  I highly recommend taking your breakfast and evening meals at Hira Guest House - they are nutritious and delicious!    The wifi / internet is fast.  The rooms are traditional brick and wood Nepali construction.   It survived the 2015 earthquake with minimal damage.   The rooms face an interior courtyard.   In the evenings they are very quiet.  And you awaken to the sound of bells from the golden temple.   It is worth talking to Manju about her broader and value-led work.    I look forward to returning!

My partner booked this accommodation last minute and when we arrived everything was organised. We were welcomed with tea and coffee, before going to our gorgeous room. Since it was a rainy and cool day, our bed was fitted with an electric blanket. This area is also really stunning with lots to explore. I would highly recommend.

Warm & Friendly

Looking for guest house style of accommodation in Kathmandu the Hira guest house has the uniqueness  that only this style of accommodation can provide. Spent three wonderful night there recently and was extremely impressed by the friendliness of the staff, and it’s central location in Patan. Enjoyed a fantastic Nepali dinner on the night I dined in cooked by the guest house manager, unfortunately I can’t remember her name but she was certainly a delightful host - don’t forget to try the local yogurt, best I have tried. I found Patan to be a really safe location to explore, yes the streets are narrow and there is a lot of motorcycles - but this is part of the overall Nepal experience.

Patan accommodation

The hospitality,charm,warmth and atmosphere of this guest house makes for a memorable stay. The owners and staff could not be more helpful. The location is perfect. The bed comfortable. A privilege to stay in such an historic building in Patan.
 Be aware that you are entering a property of great antiquity and as such it has idiosyncrasies. The beautiful staircases are steep and narrow. The restored rooms lack modern insulation. The plumbing is not as a five star hotel. However worth everything and good value for money.

Wonderful

This delightful guest house is situated just off the street and with a courtyard in front. It is only 5 minutes walk from Durbar Square and all the other attractions. The guest house is a 300 year old traditional building with exposed wooden beams and many other period features. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, and there is a reception and dining room on the first floor. The place is run by two sisters and you couldn't wish for a warmer welcome. Highly recommended for any stay in Patan.

Historic team in the heart of Patan

Hira guest House is truely the perfect place to stay in Kathmandu Patan. Far from the noisy Thamel, few minutes from the nicest square of the whole Asia, Hira guest House is the most authentic accomodation one can find. The cleaness of the charmy rooms, the kindness of the staff, the silence, and the magic athmosphere werere able to transform our staying in Kathmandu into a true dream.

the perfect place

Manju & Dina are very good-hearted hosts! i travelled alone, i found in Hira Guest House a second Home! The rooms are decorated with great attention to detail. The thick mattresses are extremely good! You can see and feel the Spirit of Nepal in the Guesthouse. At the same time, it gives you a quite atmosphere to calm down after a trekking or to prepare for your journey in the mountains. Plus, the delicious French Toast in the morning gives you the energy :)
i stayed 5 month in Nepal, i could store my bicycle and some Luggage in Hira. Very kind! The staff is super friendly, they find a solution for every problem. If you're alone and would like to talk a bit, they take the time to listen to you! i stayed in over 45 countries in Guest Houses - Hira is number one on my list!
i miss them very much! don't think too much - just book here a room ;)
