Amazing location, right on the lake in manapouri. Very friendly owner who let us stay last minute. Loads of random facilities on site e.g. table tennis, bbq, log burner. Lovely campsite set up with very hot showers!! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Fab place

This is a really cool place.

Henry takes such pride in the place, and really cared about our experience. He made sure we selected the site that would work best for us, (we were in a campervan) and I saw him escorting others around to do the same.  We loved the relaxed “old school” vibe around the place, and the sound of the songbirds everywhere.  Being so close to the lake and to the trails through the woods. The scent of wood smoke drifting through camp when Henry lit up a fire in the chimera.  The skies at night through the trees.

Fancy, this is not.  Authentic, yes, 1000%.  Clean, cheerful, relaxing.

The Real Deal

This is the best little camp-site in the southern hemisphere.  Henry and his crew go out of their way . Facilities are basic but super clean .
The atmosphere is friendly and most of the other campers we chatted with all decided to stay extra days as they enjoyed it as much as we did 😊 

Best little camp ground on the west coast

We stayed in a camper van and a friend camped next to us which wasn’t a problem for the electric hookup bit. 
We were warmly welcomed on arrival and felt very at home at this small but well run family campsite. 
It was so nice to go for nearby walks and the campsite even lent us a kayak to cross the river. 
We had been camping for about 10 days at different sites both private and DOC, but this was by far the best. So nice to have a beer by the campfire and talk to other guests/ travellers. 
The pub/old church at the top of the track is also worth a visit.
Thanks for a great stay and I hope we are back someday.

Amazing chilled stay, a fantastic vibe

A lovely bit hippy-ish kind of place. Good showers and kitchen. On the shore of the lake with amazing views. You can book your Doubtfull sound tour here as well. They have got kayaks, pingpong table and a lounge area. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Great views

Lovely grounds, cozy cabin (w/ heating blankets!), forest and birds and fire pit and books, nicely decorated, right by the lake. Nice kitchen and sanitary facilities. Owners super friendly and kind and present. Good energy - you feel it as soon as you arrive.

A gem

We just left this place today and I can’t speak highly enough of the units, the beauty and the location. The family that run it are so friendly and will help with anything - we were rushing out but had a couple of hoodies to dry and they offered to put them in when the dryers were free, we came back and they were dry and folded on our doorstep, so sweet.  They also have a fire at night where we had marshmallows and chatted with other guests that were also talking about how great the hosts are and their accomodations. There’s a restaurant/pub a couple minutes walk up the road, and and an awesome flying fox (which holds adults too!), and it’s 5mins walk through beautiful bush to the doubtful sound ferry. Our family had a great time and we’ll definitely be back. Nga mihi. Thanks again.

Wow, what a special place

We stumbled a a cross possum lodge when looking for accommodation close to doubtful sound departures - literally a stoned throw away. It's exactly as they describe it, "an original from the 'good ole days'". Nestled amoung the trees, its so peaceful. At night the fairy lights in the trees glow, it's a lovely atmosphere! Facilities are well equipped, very clean and simple but also stylish (retro) and homely. The kitchen is my favourite, so well stocked with lots of nice touches. Also Ruby, the dog, is so sweet!

Highly recommend 
Great facility's, great owners, close to everything. Reasonable price.  Has cooking utensils there for use in kitchen. Big fridge. Cabins, tent sites etc. Tracks down to beach. Its a well looked after place. Would stay there again.

Great stay 

Wake up to the birds all around, walking tracks in the bush, good facilities, quiet camp, perfect place to camp up and do the Doubtful Sound cruise and just down the road for a good feed at the church restaurant, 

Ruby the dog is a star as well, thank you for a peaceful stay
