We had such a memorable stay at Quinta da Capela!!  
We were warmly welcomed, and shown around the property by Regina and Carlos, who were really lovely people and perfect hosts. This is such a beautifully preserved historic building, full of interesting antiques and artefacts, in a totally stunning setting.  The experience of staying here is totally unique, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the real Madeira. Regina's parents restored this glorious building from a ruin, and it exudes the love and warmth the family clearly feel for it,  and it felt like our home for the time we spent there. The garden has lots of places to sit and chill, and amazing views of the coast and the mountains.  The house is spotlessly clean.  The breakfast will set you up for the whole day, offering a delicious array of treats, including exotic fruits and home-baked cake!!
The only access is a grand stone staircase up to the house, with parking on the quiet, rural street below.  I would poetically say,  it was indeed like a staircase to heaven!!  And we found it no problem to walk up and down, and we are in our late fifties. 
The area around here is stunning, and a completely different world to the hectic, touristy Funchal.

Totally unique historic villa for stay in!!

My boyfriend and I booked 4 nights in Quinta da Capela and we had a wonderful time there. Regina and Carlos are very easygoing, helpful and nice people who were available every time we needed and provided us with interesting information about the area, especially when recommending a local restaurant ´A Pipa´ which we found very good and authentic. The breakfast was tasty and with enough options for everyone. Traveling by car or even motorbike (our case even though it's not a common means of transport for tourists in Madeira) is easy to get to the Quinta and also easy to reach all the interesting places in the northern area. I definitely recommend this accommodation for couples and families as well.

Peaceful stay in Quinta da Capela B&B

I always appreciate hotels which are providing more than just accomodation. Here you can inhale some history, Portuguese hospitality and the view is fantastic. Since it is a historical building there a but lack of comfort in bathroom - water pressure is very low - and the wooden floor is noisy. Apart from this I can state with confidence Quinta Da Capela is a perfect choice.

Quinta da Capela B&B

Interesting old house (with its own chapel!), very friendly and helpful hosts. Very quiet and peaceful place. Great views over the island from the site. Good place to start for walking the coast and levadas. Only you have to take the car to get to the next restaurant.
