We stayed in Umbrella Podstell and it was  just great. It's the second Podstel in town so it's the quite one since all the main events organized by the hostel happen in the main one. The installation are great and clean with nothing to complaing about.
We were told that sometimes people complain about the location but we liked it since is a nice area with many bars and restaurants.

The most important thing that made this place so great were the people working there. We met Muti, Rob, Flori and Jarrad.  You could tell that they have a great team that enjoy working there and make that place speciall and easy to make you feel at home, so great job!

PD: They ask us to thing about something to improve and after thinking hard only thing we came out with was more wall hangers in the showers hahah.

PERFECT HOSTEL

Clean and chill atmosphere. The staff are super friendly - Alex, muti, lauren, Daniela, Rob, Jared, Emily - such baes.

I would say however, this isn't a party hostel, but some great events are hosted by the staff that appeal to everyone.

Chill vibes and helpful staff

I’m an older traveller (51) and have made very welcome- the hostel is v clean!!!! And everything you need has been considered... nearby is a supermarket and reasonably priced food outlets... it’s a few minutes walk to Piata Romana and transport links. You can cook, refrigerate food and get free filtered water... sit in or out, access WiFi, do laundry (small fee) and sleep in spotless rooms! ALL GREAT! Kat 

Welcoming and well equipped...

Great service, there was always staff available and very friendly. Had a slight issue with the toilet flushing, which the staff solved immediately. 

Clean rooms, showers & restrooms were adequate. 

Bug kitchen will everything you could need. Even free coffee. 

Great place, can recommend!

Great!

Amazing place with very friendly staff that makes the whole experience magical. A very fun hostel with themes events every night, family meals with different cook signature from all over the globe and very close to everything. I made a lot of friends there and I absolutely recommend to everyone that looking to have a great time.

The Best of Bucharest

I found the Umbrella very handy for the main sights including the Old Town and Parliament. I did a lot of walking around Bucharest but nearby Calea Victoriei has a cycle/scooter track and Piatsa Romana has a Metro station and the free bus to Therme. There are plenty of cafes, beer gardens and mini stores in the locality, in particular the M60 Cafe, Craft Beer and Gradina Eden. The Podstel crew were very helpful and friendly and helped me to arrange my visit to the Parliament and the day excursion to Dracula’s Castle. The local parks such as Cismigiu offer pleasant places for walking or taking out a boat. I recommend visits to the Dimitrie Gusti Village Museum (3 Lei) near the large beer hall and Obor Market (vast array of fruit and vegetables). The Umbrella in league with its other hostel, Teahouse 5, runs a varied entertainments programme that includes talks, yoga and music so you never need to feel alone. Also there is a good assortment of board games at the Umbrella. There is a nice courtyard for sitting and reading or working.

Convenient Location and Friendly Atmosphere

Cannot fault, they literally have everything thought of and organised to perfection. So clean and neat and the staff are so nice, laundry service was quick and efficient and it’s in a great location close to some nice restaurants and bars.

Ultimate hostel experience 

I stayed in a single with a shared bathroom. No frills but very clean. The girl at the front desk (Alexandra?) was sooooo helpful and really sweet. I’ll definitely stay there when I come through again 

Nice and chill

An amazing 2 months experience in this hostel, a really nice place to live, a beautiful environnement, neatr from the City Center, a lot of disposable services and à wonderful event programming every week. Staff people and volonteers are caring about your well-being and your hapiness : Rob with his fantastic social and musical skills, Lexa with her profesionnalism and the quality of her work, Dragoş with his disponibility, Jason with his energy, Charles with his efficiency, Mihai with his relaxing vibes and Mihail with his funny nature and all the volunteers that giving life to the hostel. Such a good atmosphere and good meet there. For sure my best hostel experience ever.

My best hostel expérience ever

My stay at Podstel Umbrella completely blew me away! A little background: my girlfriend and I (Americans) took a brief holiday tour in London and Bucharest. After a... less than ideal time in London, we were looking forward to Bucharest, and even with high expectations, our expectations were met and exceeded.

We booked on the website, which was very easy to navigate and showcased all the amenities. The hostel itself was very easy to get to from the airport - we took a bus for thirty minutes and then only had to walk about five minutes. Easy to find. The hostel itself is in a gorgeous restored historic building, and all the rooms are named after figures in Romanian history. Charles checked us in. He spoke perfect English, and gave us insight not only into the hostel but into places that we later checked out and had an amazing time at on our trip.

The key for our original room was missing so we were put in an even bigger room! The prices were low for how good the room was, and the entire hostel was clean, clearly labeled, and had a sense of humor.

Later Rob and Mihai helped us, two equally friendly, well spoken, and kind staff. We even checked out about thirty minutes late and weren't charged.

I am now telling all of my friens to visit Bucharest and to stay in Podstel Umbrella!
