We wanted a hanok experience for our week long holiday in Seoul, and we chose Irang after looking at many many options.

Some of our considerations:

1) We wanted to rent the entire hanok (or an annex) instead of only 1-2 rooms.  Hanok walls are paper thin, so if you share adjoining rooms with strangers, you will need to keep your volume down.  After watching a few you-tube videos of guests whispering (and I really mean whispering) to each other, we decided that entire hanoks were the way to go.
2) Access to bathrooms and toilets from the main house (or rooms).  Korean winters are bitterly cold and we did not fancy having to dress up and step outside just for a visit to the loo.
3) No hanoks located on high grounds.  While the view may be fantastic, the daily walking up slope is not fun.
4) Close to subway and eateries
5) English speaking host

Irang had ticks in all the right boxes, and was just perfect!

Our host, Jacqueline, was charming and went out of her way to help us.  She responded to all our questions (before and during the stay) very promptly.  In fact she provided better service than the official 1330 travel hotline.  Thumbs up!

The ondol heated floors were heavenly after a whole day's outing.  Although the futons looked thin, we found them very comfortable and had no backaches at all.

The hot/cold water dispenser was very useful.

TV channels were all in Korean language, but my kids enjoyed the cartoons nevertheless.

A great stay.  Do try it!

Cultural Experience in a Tastefully Furnished Hanok

I stayed one night at Irang. It's a tradiotional type house which is right next to Changduk place. Also, kyoengbok place and Insadong are at walking distance too. If tis is your first time visiting Korea, i definitely recommend this place. There are two rooms, a kitchen, a living and a small garden. Cuz I love staying at a wooden house, it was very nice. I heardthe traditional heating system is real great but unfortunately i couldnt tried since it was summer. It's bit expensive compared to other dorm type guesthouses but reasonalbe.

Comfy and perfect location!!

Very near to the downtown and Insa-dong area, the Korean traditional market area.
Irang is a very calm and clean guesthouse and I can guarantee the best place ever. A few days ago, I stayed at Irang with my foreign friends and they were all satisfied with the conditions.
If you want to visit Seoul, Korea, I would like you to stay at Irang.
