After such a long walk to Portomarin, we were so pleased to be welcomed in this clean Pension. The service at the reception was excellent, we were provided with a huge room with 4 beds. Coffee, tea, fruits and cake were available 24 hours! It’s in the center of town, Internet worked perfectly well! Definitely a place to remember for its 5* service! 

Excellent Service!

We had a room for the three of us, and it was a very good room, clean and comfortable. The room was on the first floor, and outside we had a shared bathroom for us and for the room next to us. The owner was very kind by letting us to choose our room, and mainly because of the free food they offer 24/7: fruits, coffee, muffins and rolls, just great! When we entered our room, there were 3 elephants made up of towels waiting for us on our 3 beds, made by the owner's wife, and later she did our laundry for 3 euro.

This hostel is located in the town center where the church,  restaurants, and shops are all within walking distance. The front desk person is extra helpful especially with our limited Spanish. The room itself is modern which provides enough electrical outlets for three people and very fast internet connection.

Modern hostel at great location

This hotel was recommended to us by a shop keeper on the Camino frances. The owners name is Pepe. It is a quaint hotel. near the square and church.

We got 2 rooms. There are about 6 rooms total. Breakfast is included. They had muffins, bread rolls, cake, fruit. Tea & coffee available 24/7. 

Our room was upstairs. It had a cute balcony over looking the road n restaurants. You share a bathroom with others. Clean & beds comfortable. The also had a massage machine at reception for your feet and cafe. I believe it was for 2 euro.

Pepe was very helpful in suggesting places to eat.  You can forward your luggage from here to a nice cafe in Palas de rei. He called  a cab for me to go to Palas de Rei since my knee was hurting. Husband n friend did the walk. 

Oct 18th stay

On the Camino road and this charming pension is next to the cathedral,in the street of most of the restaurants. Coffee,cake and fruit available for free. Washing machine and laundry line handy. We had to share a very clean bathroom with 2 showers and a toilet. Never had to wait as it serves only a few rooms. Charming balcony overlooks the street. Owners don’t speak English but we could explain what we wanted and was understood. After a long walk it was good to be able to use the lift!  Our friendly hosts deserve congrats for making their pension into a welcoming home from home. Loved the folded ‘elephant’ towels on beds

Among the more than 30+ accommodations we’ve stayed on the Camino, I would say that Pension Mar ranks solidly in the middle. We had two bedrooms with two twin beds per room. It was an unusually hot day, but there was no A/C or fans. Snacks and coffee were available all day long, and laundry service was possible. The owners were quite pleasant and WiFi was strong enough. Overall, it was a good enough place to spend a night.

Couldn’t check in until about 2pm. Lovely, helpful Owner. I was in the garden bungalow out the back. Very thin walls and noisy neighbour who sang and spoke to himself. Wifi doesn’t work out there. Loved the free tea and coffee. Nice to see cakes and toast in the morning before leaving. 

Cleaning needs to improve- long black hairs on towels and hairs stuck to shower walls. Shower was like camping with a push button to get about 20 seconds of cold/only just warm water. Bedspread/cover needed washing and there was someone else’s toenail on the spare blanket!!!
