This home is run by two sisters. It is very clean and very old. The food was excellent. The bed is comfortable. If doing the Camino, I recommend staying in Sariya to take advantage of Pilgrims mass and meeting people. For our first time in Spain, this was a great experience.

16th century family home

We got here late afternoon after a good but tiring  hike. It is worth taking a taxi ride to this rural  inn and receiving a warm welcome from one of the members of this family-run inn. She shared with us that this quaint property was with the family since the 16th century. She and her sister served us a home-cooked dinner that included mixed salad that came from their garden, fries, lamb stew, and grilled pork served with local red wine. It totally beats our expectation! Waking up in the morning, you’ll hear birds chirping which brings  some sense of communing with nature, and refreshing us with a peaceful state of mind, ready for the the day’s hiking adventure. Highly recommended!

A Pleasant Surprise!

Starting from here the French Caminai, 5 days walks to Santiago de Compostela. Very rural place but so full of character! Very clean and room are very typical …. Clean … great bathroom… and the food is basic but super excellent! The two ladies are super gentle … only one of them speaks a little bit of English! Great dinner. There is nothing to do around the accommodation…. Early night! Great start! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Great start of the French Camino

A highlight of our many one night rest stops on our Camino.  Would have gladly stayed longer.  Lovely hotel in a peaceful & tranquil setting.  The photos do not come capture the genuine beauty of the place.  Wonderful welcoming hosts -- family owned -- that also provided an excellent dinner and breakfast.  

Quiet and comfortable oasis

What a beautiful place. Although it is outside of Sarria was a wonderful place to relax and have great meals. Some of the earlier reviews mention that the food was simple but I have to say that the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful, especially the breakfast. The sisters who run the hotel served us excellent food and very generous portions. We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were also divine.

On the Camino

We always enjoy staying at this cozy B&B while leading small groups to Santiago. 
It's just a 12-minute walk to a beautiful section of the trail after Sarría, Delicious food as well. Buen Camino to all who stay here on the Road to Santiago.

Spanish Steps Camino Tours on Camino!!!

The manager of a hotel in Sarria recommended Casa Caxigueiro. It was about 5 km from Sarria. We could not find it at first. Fortunately, we met a local family walking their dog. They knew exactly where Casa Caxigueiro (pronounced Ka-shi- gwe- ra) was but we had difficulty understanding their directions. They then phoned Casa Caxigueiro. A few minutes later, a car drove up. The driver was Senõra Julia, the co-owner of the Casa. She drove us to the Casa. We were graciously welcomed by her sister (and also the other owner of the Casa) Señora Teresa. And the people whom we met on the road where, apparently, members of their extended family!

We learned that the Casa (or at least parts of it) dates to the 17th or 18th century. Our room was upstairs. It was a large room with 2 double beds. The bathroom was also quite large and had a tub-shower. The decor was tastefully antique. We stayed the night and had dinner and breakfast (as far as we could ascertain, there are no other eateries in the vicinity). It was a very restful stay. 

The meals were good. We had some dietary restrictions. They very kindly accommodated us as much as they could at such short notice. In retrospect, we regret that we do not know Spanish. It would have helped us communicate better with the ladies and learn more about the history of the house.

The positive aspects: Lovely old home in a beautiful, quiet, setting. A great place to rest and relax. Gracious hostess. 
The negative aspects: It is not easy to find. Our GPS only worked erratically there. Wifi worked in the office and dining room but nitnin our upstairs room.

Suggestions: (1) Perhaps they could place more prominent signposts on the main road and also the Camino Frances. (2) Improve Wifi in the guest rooms.



Lovely old home, gracious hostess

This is a must. Best place on the Hole Camino Frances. Best homemade food, drinks and the best room and bed. Big bathtub. EVERYTHING is marvelous. Will definetly come back to this diamant of a Casa 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastisk

We stayed here for two nights after traveling from Barcelona as a jumping off place to begin our camino.  Senora Terresa is a fabulous hostess and prepared excellent breakfasts and dinners for us using ingredients from the land and farm.  The setting dates back to the 11th century and the host family traces their roots all the way back.  The house is gorgeous, and the rooms cozy and comfortable.  Can't imagine a better place to soak up the history and hospitality of the camino.

superb!

What a delightful place to stay, on the Camino. The house was built in 1757... yes, that is correct! Friendly service even though some challenging language barriers... and a wholesome home cooked meal. Ideal for an overnight before starting the Sarria to Portomarín leg of the French Way.
