Nice big studio. Kitchen/dining room ok. Double bed OK, but makes you feel like two sausages in a hotdog. Bedroom with a heavy draught from the window and TV not working. Bedlinen very worn, so it looks dirty. But worst of all the so-called private bathroom is at the end of a hallway and smells really foul. Not very private when you have to get dress to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Dirty and run-down

Stayed for a week and decided to pay the slightly more expensive price for night because the location was amazing, and it was. Everything was withoin walking distance: El Sol, downtown Madrid, museums, sights, etc. PArties and restaurants overflow the streets in this part of town. The room was plain, only equiped with a fan, an electric heater and a tv. There's no closet, only a hook. The beds are comfy but the bedding was still wet because they just washed it hours before my checkin (can't they have two sets??) You share two full bathrooms with a shower with the other 7 rooms, the bathrooms are always wet on the floor and dirty, there are bugs everywhere running in the sink and on the floor. The kitchen is shared as well and you can use the washingmashine but there's no drier, so you have to hang your stuff on a line out the window. The intert is fine in the rooms with windows by the street, but doesn't work in the back by the kitchen. There is a couple of people as staff but there is no formal reception or anybody to helo you if you need an extra towel or so. THe keys never worked properly and you need 4 keys to get to your room, not to mention the building is from 1800 and feels like it may fall down any second.

If you're just staying a couple of nights to party around Madrid, then it's perfect. Sucks for a longer stay and wouldn't stay there again. It's too expensive and has no perks (but for the location). I've had better service in 10euro/ per bed places.

Dirty and not worth the money

The location of this hostel is very good, directly in the ‘old’ part of town.  If you are lucky enough to be there on a Sunday, the El Rastro flea market is right next to it.
The room itself though, left plenty to be desired.  We got the double non-smoking room, no.7.   It was very small with just a bed, dresser that didn’t open or close properly, and walls that were in desperate need of a paint job.  The ‘bed’ was actually the kind that could be made into a couch, and was uncomfortable.  There was hardly any space to actually move around with the door shut, or to put anything for that matter.  I guess you could say that it was both lucky and unlucky that it happened to be right next to the communal kitchen, as it was more comfortable to just leave the door open since there was never anyone really using it when we were there, which to be honest, was not very often anyway.  There was also a tiny bathroom with a shower & toilet directly on the right.  It was clean, but again very small with no place to put toiletries. 
I should also mention that everything can be heard from the kitchen, and it seems that during the first night the other tenants were not aware that our room was occupied and started preparing snacks and had a pretty loud discussion at around 2am.  Afterwards, they made an effort to be quitter, though it was still hard to sleep, as the light would seep through door.  It would be really unfortunate if you should get inconsiderate people staying here at the same time as you.  There are some basics such as milk, cereal, toast, coffee, tea, sugar, and a few other things available for everyone to use.
 The one window in our room opened into a shaft, with a purple drape covering it to hide the dinginess, and there was not any sunlight getting through in the morning.
