Firstly: don't trust the map on hotels.com - it's completely wrong (though the address is correct - use Google maps).
Very small plate on door frame, alongside other hostals is the only indication of its presence.
It's on the fourth floor, quite a few stairs, though there is an old-style lift if you want to chance it (in fairness, it seemed to work fine).
Room was basic but clean, beds comfortable.
Bathroom very small and the sliding door facing the beds didn't really afford much privacy. Weak shower pressure, and the wall mounted holder was too loose to hold the shower head at a useful angle.
Great location, just a few metres from the busy Plaza Santa Ana, with plenty of bars and restaurants there, and literally hundreds within a short walk.

Compact, clean, good location

We arrived on a late flight and the instructions and information from the hostel was great. Perfect budget hostal in a primo location, metro 5 mins walk, 10 mins walk in any direction gets you to markets, sights, parks,museums. Great to have a lift to level 4, fridge and kettle in room, immaculately clean and tidy. Perfectly formed budget hostal in a great location with a cracking management team, well done. Lots of food places close by too.

Great budget hotel in perfect location

Close to city center, many restaurants near by round Santa Anna Square, few food shops, clean rooms, good breakfast, in walking distance of all attractions in the city. Very good value for the price. Puerta del Sol Metro Station is  some 5 minutes walk. By foot to the Prado Museum takes less than 10 minutes and beautiful Gran Via Boulevard is 500 metres from Madrid Sol.

Close to city center, clean rooms, quiet area

Excellent location to explore the sites of Madrid. Great price for this area. Near the lovely little plaza of Santa Ana. Stores and restaurants very close as well as public transport. Room was clean and comfortable with a small fridge. Bathroom tight as in most European bathrooms. Really wish so many hotel showers in Europe could add something to hold the soap and shampoo and conditioner. We always have to put them on the floor- yucky. Such a cheap fix. We had an interior room with a window to a small area overlooking everyone else's room (with drapes/blinds). Did not mind as it was VERY quiet in a lively neighborhood. Enjoy the elevator from about the 1940's. Not for the faint hearted but we loved it. Staff speaks a little English but bring some Spanish! Cheers and happy travels.

Perfect location, great price and helpful friendly staff.

Plus:
Walking distance (15-20mins) to Metro/Cercanias stations, Retiro park, Plaza Mayor, Prado museum - all the major tourist sites. Closest station is Sol which is a 5min walk.
Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores in the area. There's a Carrefour Express half a block up the same street.
Minus:
Since it is in the heart of the Sol, it can get very crowded (tourists and locals), and noisy late at night (sometimes after 3am).
My room had a very slow drain in the shower.
The building had an old style elevator which was very small, so if you and your party have lots of luggage, it would be a challenge fitting them all in one trip.

Great Location

Plus-
Perfect location, we walked to every attractions in downtown and Atocha railway  station.

Carrefour Express and many restaurants nearby.

Room is clean, they clear the garbage can, bathroom and make the bed everyday, but no change towels.

Minus-
Our room is right across the reception, it’s  small and unlike the picture they show you at booking website.

Being the room is very close to the front door, we can hear people talking when they chat with the receptionist, reception office phone ringing, and the buzz when people ring the front door to get in.

One night the plaza nearby had a concert, super loud music until midnight. Good luck you don’t experience that.

Location perfect.

Excellent location in the city center, just 3 minutes from Sol metro station. There are many good and cheap restaurants nearby. Our room was quite small, but very clean and bright. We also had a tiny balcony with a wonderful view. Reception staff is very kind and willing to help, and we very much appreciated the early check-in. Overall, we enjoyed every minute and it was a good value for money.
