Santa Cruz De Mudela is a small town just by the highway where there is not particularly much to do. It is, however, a perfect base if you want to explore the surrounding nature of central Spain. 

Casa Palacio is an excellent hotel with everything you need. Rooms are spacious and equipped with all the necessities. There is a restaurant accessible from the hotel and breakfast is also perfectly satisfactory. Don't expect the grand luxury of the Spanish beach cities or Madrid, but if you want to explore the inland with the correct mindset, I will definitely recommend this hotel!

Nice stay in a cosy, picturesque hotel

This hotel blew me away (if you ever stayed in Spanish Parador Hotels, this is exactly like them, just "familyoperated" and quaint and quite).
We were en-route from Granada to Cadiz and needed to stay one night. 
The rooms are well done, nicely redecorated, the courtyard was beautiful and the food was very good.

Outstanding value, nice old historic gem in quaint little town

This was our final overnight stop in the town of Santa Crus de Mudela, traditionally Spanish with an internal courtyard, swimming pool (during high season), dinning room, free WiFi in most areas and secure parking within the complex. The bedrooms are decorated and furnished in traditional Spanish and it has some great unique features and treasures on display. We had the menu of the day for dinner and a traditional breakfast served to us in the morning. Well worth a stopover, in fact we will be booking it for our trip down here next year very impressed. And again for the 2 of us came in under 100euros, excellent value for money.  

Final overnight stop before we get to Andalusia 

Stayed one night end July, on our way to Cordoba. Lovely building with courtyard, old Spanish style and atmosphere. We had a delicious outdoor evening meal at a reasonable price. Room was spacious and cozy, but beds (matresses) were too hard for us, = sleepless night. There was a swimming pool, but we had no time to use it, unfortunately. Lovely breakfast was served in their inside comedor.  The whole staff were very friendly and helpful.  I managed to forget my favourite earring in the room, called the day after to enquire. They had found it !!! and I was able to pick it up on our way home after two days. Highly recommended accommodation, in typical Spanish «sleepy town».

A great hotel with a very attractive central moorish courtyard. Comfortable bedrooms. Secure uncovered parking.Good evening meal. Breakfast was fine but could have had more variety.

A very pleasant hotel

I get the 'creepy' notes but don't agree. This is simple, classic, old style Spain  run by a lovely family who may just be a bit timid and not at all cosmopolitan. It's a beautiful building, home cooked and traditional food and a great pool. Rooms are fine but I do agree that they should change the mattresses.

Classic old style Spain

This was a return visit to the Casa Palacio, Santa Cruz de Mudela since before Covid travel restrictions. Obviously the building is very old which is important in its attraction. However it did look tired with some problems with doors. On arrival at about 2pm the hotel was locked and not manned. We had to phone  and was given the front door code. Our room was unlocked with key inside. Later in the day the hotel was manned for a short while but not evening or overnight. The owner arrived about 0900 the next day as we were leaving. The main problem was we were not aware they no longer did breakfast or evening meal. Mudela is a ‘one horse town’ with apparently no restaurants.( our evening meal was a snack in a cafe) so disappointed

A return visit but disappointed

It may of been 4 stars in the past but certainly isn’t now. Very run down with door handles loose, in our room the cupboard doors were broken.  Several notices informing guests that there was problems with the AC (although ours worked ok) The internet works only near reception. They don’t accept credit cards. So overall not a great experience.
