We stayed in Yelmo apartment for 6 nights in May. It was clean and very well equipped, and great value. The kitchen has a double hob, microwave and fridge freezer, with sufficient utensils to cook meals. It was unusually hot for the time of year (over 40 degrees in the valley) but the apartment remained comfortable (the air conditioning helped). The views from the balcony are stunning. The village has a number of interesting buildings and 2 small shops where you can get basic provisions (including fresh bread). We had stocked up with most provisions before arriving which saved us having to leave the village. There is a walking route passing through the village. If you want somewhere to relax but also with points of interest this takes some beating. Most of the time the village and apartment are quiet, although you can hear some noise from other apartments (depending on who is in them!) and the families in the village come out in the evening so there is some noise then (but you are in a real village!). Be prepared to speak some Spanish as you are in real Spain here with little English spoken. Great place!

Great place to stay & good value

Clean and nice apartments. Newly renovated bathroom. All spotless clean! Very friendly and helpful owner. The apartment had a little balcony with nice views over the mountain. 

All I missed was a water boiler/kettle and some instant coffe so one could make coffee in the morning. But this seems to be typical to Spain to not have this! :-)

Very nice

We stayed 3 nights in Apartment Yelmo and it was fantastic! Extremely clean, very well equipped kitchen, big balcony, and easy parking behind the building. Julián was a very good host and a delightful young man. He advised us on where to eat during our stay and he was right! We had planned to spend one day in Segura de la Sierra and then visit other villages.....we never left the town during our stay! One can drive to near the castle, but it is good to walk up. The view from our balcony was over the hills and "one million" olive trees as well as a partial view of the village. The town is wonderful as are the people and the apartment was outstanding!

Perfect!

We stayed here in August 2016 for a few nights in one of the apartments.  There are no lifts so all luggage and shopping had to be laboriously carried up the stairs, and then down the stairs on departure.  Ditto daily rubbish.   The whole village is hilly with some steps in places to assist.  Our apartment had sufficient room for us with a  useful washing machine and a clothes line, a large fridge/freezer, cooking rings, crockery and cooking equipment, even proper sized mugs for our tea.  Having read previous reviews complaining about tiny cups the owners have taken heed and provided mugs, so next time we will not trouble to pack our own and lug them there.   Our bathroom was spacious with towels, shower, lavatory and sink and it was clean and modern. No complaints at all.  Far reaching views over the trees to the sierra and  horizon from the little balcony where we ate breakfast and early dinner.    The bread van hurtles past late morning so fast that by the time we realised what it was and got downstairs to the road we missed him our first day, the next day desperately almost standing in the middle of the road to flag him down.    We were given free passes with the apartment rental for and visited the municipal swimming pool daily.    It is just outside the village and was refreshing and clean, again with a view, and in the little bar drank cold beer and ate tapas after swimming.    We had read that there was supposed to be a weekly street market by the church, but on the due day all that materialised was a household linen stall and another.  There is a tiny shop with a charming old fashioned elderly proprietor which had a small offering of fruit and veg as well as some household and toiletry essentials.   The butcher's shop seemed rather pricey to us (transport and not many customers?)  but although it looked fresh we did not buy in the end.     Arab baths to find and visit in the village, and outside the village at either end  the castillo atop the hill and also the mini bull ring.    There seems to be a hiking trail that led through the village downhill to the next town a few miles away but we did not venture along it.    The tourist information centre was open one day.      We would like to return and would stay here in these apartments again.

Sierra de Segura apartment

Lovely little village in the heart of rural Spain. Stayed in the Apartments Mesa Segureña which was reasonably easy to find at the top end of the village,  best to park on the upper road which is found on exiting the village as there are a lot of steps with suitcases. Accommodation comfortable & clean, we had a beautiful view from our room although missed a terrace to sit out on in the evening to watch the sun set behind the hills. Extra bonus was a washing machine but basic accessories such as teaspoons; cork screw, kettle,  juice extractor & iron, we're missing which was a disappointment although we managed to get by without them. Wifi connection somewhat erratic and switched off in the evening.  Not much going on in the village, 3 basic restaurants which we found of poor quality & expensive. Village only has a very small basic food store so best to shock up at supermarket in nearby village of Ocera. Found a terrific restaurant enroute to La Toba called la Casa Madera which is also a hotel, friendly, excellent food and very reasonable priced well worth finding and a beautiful drive through an extensive pine forrest. Arrived at the end of August so just missed all the local ferias but found the northern Sierra & Villas very quiet & remote. Great walking trails but far too hot in summer & with little or no opportunity of swimming as not permitted in local dams and reservoirs.  Off the beaten track, very peaceful and quiet & ideal if u are wanting to escape the madding crowd and disconnect from the hustle & bustle of modern day life.
