We were 3 nights and it is beautiful. 

The location is perfect for visiting nearby sites such as Medinaceli, Termas, El monasterio de piedra... 

The hotel has a restaurant with very tasty food... the rooms are very confortable.

The landscape from the hotel are amazing!


Amazing place!

We decided to visit this place, because normally when we have a long weekend, we go to Barcelona or Madrid, but this time we wanted to try something different. 

We arrive at the airport at 22:00 h and took the car to Somaen, in the middle of the night you can find several mini restaurants and gas stations where you can eat.

We arrived to the hotel at 2 am, called and someone came to receive us, he was a bit sleepy but very smily!

When we saw our room we were tired and it was ok, but when we woke up, I was amazed with the views, the decoration and the furniture. 

I went to have breakfast alone (as my boyfriend was too tired to go) and the restaurant was AMAZING! nice decoration, nice atmosphere and breakfast was good (cheese, ham, very good croissants and cake, fresh orange juice and coffee). I asked if I could take the breakfast to my boyfriend ( as he did not feel very good) and they said ok. 

The gardens, the views, the service and every detail is wonderful (even the keychains where very different).

There is on the third floor of hte mainbuilding a nice saloon where you can enjoy with family and friends.

We visited Medinaceli which is 20 min. away and we had a great day there! 

All in all a perfect long weekend and of cour I would recommend toanyone who looks for a different holiday in a town where ust 20 people live.

Amazing long weekend!

We have stayed just one night but the hotel appeared as an unexpected beautiful oasis situated in a canyon in the old road  between Madrid and Zaragoza (that nowadays has almost no traffic, but it is very near from the way out of the the high-way). The hotel is installed in a well recovered Muslim castle and in the nearby custom house which controlled the medieval road. We had a very warm and friendly reception and an excellent lunch and dinner. We will return for sure!

A beautiful stop between Madrid and Zaragoza

Decided to stop here after driving a few hours after arriving in Madrid from Canada.  Was an amazing setting, in a canyon, with some great views!  The castle itself was beautiful, and grounds were extremely nice as well.  A picturesque castle in a gorgeous setting!!  The room we got was a good size, clean, and well kept.  The staff were very friendly and we were offered a bottle red or white wine when we arrived in our room!  A remarkable gesture by the staff!!  Ate at the restaurant for supper and it was really good.  After a great sleep on a comfortable bed had breakfast in the restaurant and it was very nice as well.  The crushed tomato dish for the breads was incredible!!  Would definitely stay here again!

Absoluty gorgeous authentic and unique castle hotel. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The unique location of the hotel also makes it rather challenging to reach: The approach is through a variety of narrow streets and up a steep and not very wide cliffside road: not for the faint hearted and not for those with mobility issues as also there is large amount of stairs. The staff means well, is super friendly and moves heaven and earth for you. Breakfast was served on the table which added to the charm. Dinner was disappointing to say the least and needs quite some work: for now I would recommend to get some cold cuts and cheese, pick a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the charming setting. I would definitely return and recommend with these notions though.

Great - food Can be better

Steps, steps and yet more steps is one memory of this beautiful inn nestling in a valley of high cliffs. It is tragic - given the high cost per night including dinner in this spectacular hotel - that it is so poorly, unimaginatively and inefficiently managed. It makes you want to weep.
I sent an email (in Spanish) asking them to confirm the booking almost ten days before we arrived. No reply.  I called and dealt with an answer phone. Several days later someone rang at 9.30pm then the call finished. It was from the Posada.
The hotel is approached along a winding single track. Having parked the car there is a very steep slope (on which your trolley bag is likely to go faster than you) that leads to a locked gate.  We rang, gave our names and the gate opened. There are now 18 steps to negotiate; a turn to the right where there is another long steep slope punctuated with steps. More stone steps and finally 42 steps later you arrive at a small reception area. This hotel is not for the infirm, the aged, the gravid, high heels, wheelchairs or push chairs.
The manager seemed to have nothing ready. He fumbled with papers, checking this and that and finally asked for ‘identification cards’. We asked about WiFi. He said it was ‘arriba’ but both the IPad and the Nexus 10 showed that although they picked up the strong signal they could not connect. The Nexus indicated a reset of the WPS on the router. I told the manager (in Spanish). He shrugged and walked away. Having no WiFi is not a disaster but the unhelpful attitude was irritating.
The pool is up another slope (you’re doing a lot of climbing in 30 degrees of heat). The pool area is lovely but the water is caramel-coloured because the pool has been painted brown! Totally uninviting. There was not one sun bed free including tables and chairs. They were all occupied by the used towels and detritus of absent ‘owners’. Pre-dinner drinks came with a small bowl of crisps. The dinner was good but the bread was a stone-cold lump with no accompanying oil and vinegar for dipping.
Breakfast was exorbitant. It was a croissant, some bread, jam, tomato spread and cheese. And that’s it for 17 euros.
There is no bell for calling attention at the tiny reception area and the next day, the manager asked me to crouch behind the desk to check my bill on the computer. So professional! One night B&B plus dinner came to 326 euros. The manager just about saved the day by carrying the two trolley bags back to the car. 
Why not a glass of cava and a welcoming smile for managing all the steps? Why not a leaflet in different languages giving the basic information? What happened to olives and almonds with drinks? Why cold lumps of bread? Why no suggested help with luggage from the gate to the desk? Why tolerate unoccupied but ‘owned sun beds’? Suggest politely that when not in use they vacate them. And why a brown pool?
It is one small thing after another that piles up like silt. I wanted to give the place no star but I can’t. This beautiful inn needs a professional shakeup. It is so sad to see what appears to be a dead hand at the top. My wife said as we drove away: ‘I‘ll put this one down to experience’.
PS: the bedside mats slip so much you are risk of injury.
