If you are considering booking this hotel, you are probably doing so because of price. This is why I spent two nights here. I paid 15 euros/ person a night for a triple in June.

Overall my experience was not that bad. The beds were comfortable, and the room was a good size. There was no en suite, but the shower was across the hall, and was quite powerful.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke quite good English. On the day I checked out I had a 5pm train, so wanted to leave my bags at the hotel while I spent the time before in the city. I explained this to the man at reception and said this was not possible as the reception was closed 2-4 (when I would need to pick them up). To solve the problem he let me keep the room till 5pm at no extra cost, and showed me a place where I could leave the keys. He didn’t have to do this and he saved me a lot of hassle.

When we went Zaragossa was hot hot hot and the heat carried on during the evening. We were frustrated to see an aircon unit in the room, but could not find the remote anywhere. Maybe if we had asked at reception they might have given one, but it was closed when we wanted it.

The hostel is a 20/ 25 minute walk to the old town which is where you will likely be going. This may be a good or bad thing depending on your needs. From our point of view it was a good opurtunity to walk off the copious amount of tapas we had eaten.

I came in on train and there is not a bus that goes near the hostel. I’d advise getting a taxi if you come in this way or take a 25 minute walk which is what I did when I left.

Would I stay here again? If I was on a budget yes, unless there was an equivalently priced hostel nearer the old town. I couldn’t find one when I booked though.

Cheap price, no frills, good nights sleep

Arrived at this hotel to be told to collect keys from else where, disappointing after a VERY long journey with two young children. 

We drove around the area to find parking there were groups of men hanging around outside buildings looking very suspicious, streets were CCTV monitored.  On our next lap trying to find parking someone was being arrested right outside the doorway, the men and boys that appeared to be hanging around the door way looked under the influence of something! We did want to risk staying there with two children especially with no reception area and streets surrounding that looked horrible so ended up spending a lot more and booking into TRYP hotel.  

No wonder pictures of the outside are not shown anywhere maybe cause it looks horrible. 

I can not comment on the rooms just the appearance from the outside, if you are travelling with young family I would say this is a no go.

We did not even stay

My wife and I booked Hostel Santa Gema late 2011 for June 2012. We arrived and found the front entrance guarded by a doorman, who told us in broken English it had closed down. Then he changed his mind and told us it was on the 7th floor and we should go up. My immediate concern was getting the luggage to the room, without getting a parking ticket. My wife went up to enquire about parking. The receptionist barely spoke English, but shrugged his shoulders and said there was none locally. My wife also noticed the dirty state of the Reception area.
We asked a local policeman where we could park, he told us that the only place was a local Hotel car park and gave us directions. We returned to Hostal Santa Gema after booking into the Hotel, we were surprised the hotel cost was roughly the same as the Hostal. I agree that the reception was very dirty, messy and there was a stale odour. A look along the corridor to the rooms showed it too was messy.  I then cancelled the booking, because it was not as described in their advert and the receptionist was most unhelpful. On reading other reviews I'm glad we did.
My conclusion about the Hostel is that they should clean up their act and also make some effort to either provide parking locally or find public parking for Guests.
My advice to anyone staying in Zaragoza, is DON'T stay here, get a proper Hotel room, it costs around the same price
