It's in top of the idalgashinna mountain near the village. But quite and nice place this, but road is very difficult and we went by 4x4. when we go to the garden view in Bandarawela side. And near the Idalgashinna station. When we got to the station we can get nice view of Rathnapura side.  Bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and service is good. It's has living area with TV and sofa set. Best for family trip too.

Best Place to feel long view

Took the 8.30AM train and reached there by 4.50PM, the house is only 2mins from the station. You could also walk along the tracks (back to ohiya) and enter the premises.. Stayed for 3 nights

The place has some amazing views and you could
> request a tuktuk from the host to take you to bandarawela and catch the 12.30PM or 3.30PM train back to Idalgashinna

> Walk along the tarred road next to the station and reach the summer hut with amazing views of the southern part of SL (arrange for a picnic)

> Walk along the gravel path next to the station and trek upto the Idalgashinna Mountain. If you time it correctly you could get some amazing views of the trains arriving to the station.

> Get in touch with the Station Master and let him walk you through on how the signalling system works

Mrs. Bala (the owner) looked after us very well and the food was amazing. From Dosai, Idlis, Milk Rice to her tasty Rice and Curries.. It was fantastic. She also prepared us some sandwiches on our way back home too...

Beautiful Place with lots to do

Guesthouse in quiet village of Idalgashinna with amazing view, good food and helpful hosts. Close to trainstation and hiking paths. Nice garden. The rooms are simple but clean. Perfect for a few days of hiking

Great place, friendly hosts

The room which was allocated for me and my friend was a double bed room with the attached bathroom (it was very large) . The owners are very hospitable and provides good insight about the little towm and the surroundings.
The home cooked meals very super delicious. The house is a small bungalow quite spacious and clean. The garden facing the the scenic mountains is simply breathtaking. You could just sit there all day watching the mist and the clouds move about. The walk to the station is just 01 minute.

Excellent homestay in a beautifull colonial style house. Owners are extremly friendly and helpfull. The food is local and very good and the views are amazing. Perfect stop if you need soem piece and quiet.

Feelt like home

Positive:

- Amazing location, away from all the tourists (this place is not in Haputale, but in Idalgashinna)
- Great view
- Nice patio outside to sit
- Delicious food (lunch/dinner, Rs 425 pp)
- Full breakfast (Rs 400 pp)
- Big bathroom
- 2 minute walk from the railway station of Idalgashinna (on the line from Colombo/Kandy to Badulla, we took the express train, but it didn't stop (sometimes they do), so we went to the next station: Haputale and took a slow train back to Idalgashinna)

Negative:

- Host can’t speak proper English, so it’s difficult to communicate.
- The interior was a bit dated
- Not all the trains stop at this station, be aware of that (not a real con, but more a note)
- Room was painted the day before we arrived, so it smelled like paint
- Water and tea not included in the price of the meals
- 10% extra service charge, also over the room price (not mentioned on booking.com, where we made our reservation)

Amazing view, lovely food and unique spot

Peak rest is a simple but clean family stay at a very peaceful and quiet location. On top of a tea plantation valley and next to a tea factory and train station, it offers a unique off-the-beaten accommodation. Horton plains, haputale and Ella easy to reach by train, which is 2 min walk away. Overlooking tea plantations and villages of tea estate workers, it's a remote and very quiet location.
Food cooked by the hosts is excellent. Don't forget to try the thosai. Very friendly and hospitable hosts.

Your place if you like a friendly family stay

My wife and I stopped here for lunch, after hiking from Haputale to the monastery, then down to Idalgashinna train station. In town, we asked for somewhere to eat and were pointed here by a shopowner.

Asked for something quick. Had fried rice. Basic, nothing special. Bill arrives = 910 rupees. Bill was a nickel and dime affair, seemed intent on maximizing how much could be charged, including a service charge which in a case like this, is rarely taken. Given local prices and throughout SL, I found this kind of expensive.

When ordering food from here (or anything, I suppose), ask for a menu, ask the total price. Always good advice in SL, anyhow.
