Recommen swasthi holiday

We stayed here for 2 nights, the hotel is a very good place to stay in. It's close to the bus station, to the shops and cafes. The room is big and clean, towels, sheets
- everything is clean, no problems with bathroom, water or something else. The hostess helped us with sights around the city and drove us to Mihintale. The food is perfect. I strongly recommend you to visit this place.

Great place ! 

When we arrived the host welcomed us with a fresh watermelon juice! However, the fan was not working in our room so they kindly reduce the price of the AC! The room is comfortable and clean.
The breakfast and diner are very good!!
The guest house is close to the city center.
The hosts can propose you an interesting city tour by tuktuk which is cheaper than the official price.

We recommand this friendly guest house!!

We stayed 3 nights. It ended up costing $18.86 per night with breakfast. The breakfast isn't good. It's basically a bunch of cut papayas, bananas, 2 pieces of toast, 1 fried egg each and coffee or tea. The tea and coffee are both nasty. I think it's because of the water they use. It tastes like well water or water that came from rusty pipes. 

The room is supposed to be the cheapest room and it is HOT in there. There's a ceiling fan but it's almost impossible to open the windows or door because there are tons of mosquitoes. Good thing the weather wasn't cold because there is NO HOT WATER. I believe the WIFI was okay. It's a 20 minute walk to the main road. Not sure why they call this a resort either. There was a twin bed & full sized bed in the room but the twin bed was missing boards underneath so when I tried to step on the bed, the whole mattress sank including me. LOL.. 

Another funny thing was that we needed to stay one more night. The host told us there might be a couple moving out that evening so she will let us know later on. We also booked a Tuk Tuk tour of the city with them for 5000 rupees (2 people) for the following day. Later in the evening, she said they have no rooms available and we can't stay so we would have to move our stuff out very early in the morning since the tour starts at 8:30am. We called a Tuk tuk driver who told us he can give us the tour for 2000 rupees (2 people). So we told the host of the hotel we are not taking their tour since were not able to stay at their hotel. ALL OF A SUDDEN A ROOM BECAME AVAILABLE. Wow.. Can you imagine that?? 

There's only one plug in the room and they don't have a power strip. The room was fairly clean but the blankets were super small. I'm 5'3 and asian and even I could not fit my whole body in that blanket. 

Also 2 people ordered dinner from the hotel. I saw a man on a motorcycle deliver 2 food packages to the hotel. As soon as the man left, those 2 people received their dinner of fried rice and fried egg. 

If you decide to stay at this hotel, are hungry and want whatever that hotel has on their dinner menu (which is all sri lankan food), go to Charmy, it's a place that's open late at night and only a 10 min walk from the hotel. From the hotel, turn right and the next major street you see, turn right again. It is on the left hand side right at the intersection. Make sure you check the bill before you pay.

HOT "budget room"

We had the most awful experience. Will never recommend this place to anyone. Primary reason, after my uncle drank a cup of tea, he found a "lamp Wick" in the bottom of the cup. When we complained the owner his answer was "we don't charge service charges like other places, so mistakes can happen". He and the girl at the reception were so rude and did not even bother. Customer service was 'Nil'. One finger bowl was given for 5 people and also there was no sink available to wash hands after having a meal at their so called dinning area, we rather washed our hands using the garden tap. At the same time another guest came and complained saying that a curry bowl(a bowl similar to the bowl which dhal curry was served)was given to them to wash hands .Also they have ordered string hoppers on the previous night for breakfast, but in the morning they have got bread saying that no string hoppers were available. The same guest made a suggestion, to atleast heat the food in a microwave and give so that the food will not be cold. (when we received also the food was cold). However, the girl at the reception responded saying "if the food was not good how come everyone ate and didn't have much leftover food". Also after we finished eating only we got water to drink. The serving staff were wearing shorts and were not at all trained to serve guests. Double room was so small and did not have Hot water as mentioned. No toiletries were given as mentioned. The room did not even have a glass to drink water or even water to drink. Even though we booked for bed and breakfast, they charged us for morning tea. Have never come across with a place with no basic standards atleast
