Solo traveller over Christmas. I had an amazing experience at the Bougain Villa. The garden is beautiful, the swimming pool very well kept and the rooms and bathrooms are very spacious.
The service was excellent. The manager, Sampath, caters to your every need - transport, sightseeing and any day tot day requirements. In the restaurant, Wasanthe, make sure you get whatever you need. Rooms are kept clean by Kolonne, who makes it his mission to make sure everything is 100%. It is clear the staff takes tremendous pride in their work.
The food served was very good. The breakfast is delicious and huge. Same for the dinners. I recommend the Sri Lanka Rice and Curry.
The property is not on the beach but transport is easily arranged and very cheap.
I will definitely return to Bougain Villa for a longer stay!

5* service in the body of a beautiful 3* villa.

We love everything about our stay at Bougain Villa - the service, the room, the pool, the beautiful surroundings along with the free tuktuk to the beach. We actually stayed longer than expected.. 

The breakfast was one of the best we've ever had with loads of exotic fruit and coffee.
The room cleaning was also great !

This place suits everybody :)

Incredible stay

Spend lot of time in sri lanka, and dont know how ive missed this place before...what a find! Went  in to see if could  have a look around and take photos as im a travel agent, always looking for good places to recommend. 

Stunning pool and loungers, so friendly staff cant do enough for you, cocktails to the poolside, bottles of water too. Great service.

The rooms are lovely, each one different, lots of space and very clean. Everyth8ng you need for an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful kept gardens when i visited, made my day seeing monkeys swinging in the trees in the gardens...fabulous..

Have now sourced a way so i can now book any future guests looking for budget quality boutique accommodation in sri lanka. Hopefully will be sending many guests to your place soon.

The manager is a lovely guy, made us so welcome, let us use the pool and facilities, definitely will be going here again and happy to recommend to my guests.

Found this hotel by chance...what a hidden gem!

The property is huge with a well maintained swimming pool,lounge and rooms like mini houses. The only issue we had was the air con not working well, could be due to the excessive heat outside. The manager was very friendly, helped us get extra fans to keep us cold during the day and night. 

Leaving all the tiny issues aside, the best memory we have of this place is the breakfast. They arranged an amazing spread for us, serving us more than enough food with smiles and lots of warmth. Do have the woodapple Jam there! Any request that is needed is catered to. Would recommend to leave the air con on for a while as the rooms are big and the air con is small. 

Location is good, a little away from the city, but close to some beautiful beaches!!

Decent place, courteous staff, awesome breakfast

This is a charming hotel situated inland near the Kande Viharaya Temple. Booking.com state it's by the beach - this is incorrect - a good 10 mins by tuktuk. Also there is no gym facility.
We received a lovely welcome by Wasantha, the manager & his staff to a German owned, lovely sized, mid range hotel. The entrance and reception are light and airy leading to the restaurant. It was very quiet when we stayed in September 2017. The bedrooms are situated on two levels around a beautiful garden.
The rooms are a good size. Ours had a/c, a TV with a couple English language channels, a fridge, plenty of storage space and a very comfortable double bed with a mosquito net. There was also a large shower room & a balcony with garden views.
The swimming pool is well maintained and a good size for actual swimming & the hotel provided towels and sunbeds. There is a shallow children's area too. Massage is available and you pay the hotel direct.
The chef, Kalo, is fantastic. He's very capable of cooking anything you want. His curries are fabulous. Make sure you are hungry at breakfast - it consists of curries or dhal served with chapatis, bread, toast, jams, tropical fruits, omelettes and each day a different freshly pressed tropical fruit juice. This will really set you up for exploring the area. If you're looking for some personal service, we would highly recommend & certainly hope to visit again.

Lovely garden hotel with fab pool

When we first arrived at hotel we thought what a nice looking place. we booked in and was shown to room  ( which by the way was ' luxury' according to our voucher ) the room was awful, dark and grimy, tucked round the side of the hotel and facing out onto what looked like the laundry for hotel we were told that there was no other rooms available but after much ' discussion'  with staff we were shown to another set of rooms. we straight away noticed how much the rooms smelt of cigarettes and drains. upon inspection of rest of rooms we were extremely disappointed by the general cleanliness .We had another discussion with the staff who assured us that there were definitely no more rooms available but would make a major effort to clean the rooms up
- we returned three hours later and not a thing had been done. at this point we would have left , but as ther were no other hotels locally we had no option but to stay, we again requested that rooms be cleaned which the staff did - to a small degree! we had 
dinner in the hotel that night ( which was quite good ) a member of staff came round ( maybe the owner- he did not say- and asked us about our stay, to which we answered truthfully. He seemed more interested in arguing than trying to resolve our discontent.
The staff were generally very helpful ( apart from this man ) and the food was good, especially the breakfast, but the rooms  - what a disgrace!!!!!!!!!
