Stayed here with my girlfriend for two nights, the food is good and cheap and so are the rooms. We had a nice sea view from our balcony and the room was ok too. Was definitely cheapest seaview in town and all in total a good experience.

Nice view and fair price

My wife & I spent one night here on our way down south.The rooms were clean & large.The service was friendly & efficient.The dinner of Stringhoppers, Pork curry, Pol sambol & Potato Curry was yummy.Definitely value for money.

This place was absolutely disgusting! Filthy, run down and shabby rooms. Sheets were dirty and stained. Pillows were brown and easily a few years old. No hot water. Apparently had wifi but non existent. Next to a busy main road and no sleep at all. This is not a resort and would strongly caution any traveler staying here. Unfortunately paid upfront for 4 nights but left after 1. They couldn't pay me to stay here! Please see pics. Half a star hotel at best.

Horrible Horrible Stay!

We had problems finding a place to stay in Unawatuna as everywhere was very busy, but we got a room here on the condition that we would stay 2 nights. Luckily we had not paid upfront.
The room was gloomy and depressing, not one you would want to spend much conscious time in. The poorly maintained bathroom was clean, to a point, but the shower curtain was mouldy and disintegrating and the towels were smelly. The bed clothes were clean.
Our room was on the first floor overlooking the road. Unfortunately, the hotel is on the A2, the main coast road which has heavy traffic, and there was traffic noise most of the night. We did not sleep well, even with earplugs. We had a balcony, but it would not have been pleasant to sit out. (The beach was on the other side of the road.)
The hotel is a bit of a way along from the main tourist strip, and the road is not nice to walk along (crossing it is not easy either as the traffic is fast). It's better to get a tuk tuk if you want to go anywhere.
Breakfast was okay.

The next day we made our excuses and left, but this was not a problem. We were offered another room at the back, but had had enough at that point, and Unawatuna was not what we expected (the beach was jam packed with western tourists and not clean in parts, and the place was spoilt with many resorts, tourist shops, restaurants and bars - not what we wanted).

This hotel was just about the worst we stayed in during 3 week tour of the island. Our room, with aircon, was 75 USD a night, without aircon it was 60 USD. So, does aircon really cost 15 USD a night?! We chose to go without and just used the fan, which was fine. Still, the price was shocking for what it was.
