Blue Ocean hotel is renovated recently and looking very good. Just one minute walk to Hikkaduwa famous sandy beach. The garden with lot of trees and flowers which we really enjoyed the nature there. Rooms are big and air con. Mini cooler was very useful to keep our things chilled... The breakfast was good and tasty and included in the room rate. Very friendly and helpful host and given very good advices to plan our next destinations. 
The place is well managed and everything was perfect for us. Highly recommended to visit the property...

Great place to stay in Hikkaduwa with the nature...well managed place

Me and my 2 friends stayed here for 11 days over new year and Tony and Mundo could not have been more accommodating to us. Tony sat us down when we arrived, explained to us the do's and don'ts, what costs to expect to pay, great restaurants to visit and general advice about Hikkaduwa

The only thing which wasn't too much of a concern to is but to others is the smell of the sewers which sometime come through but that will be the same for all places in hikkaduwa.

Big up blue ocean!

I stayed here with my partner and sister for two nights. The place was lovely, only 25m away from the beach front and very easy to get a tuk tuk/ bus. The room was spacious with air condition, mosquito net and a fan/ac. The owner was very kind and was always readily available to give us recommendations. He even gave us some fresh fruit from local gardens. The common area was a great place to just relax. There is also a really great local restaurant one minute away with authentic Sri Lankan food. I highly recommend this place for its friendly staff, great atmosphere, affordability and comfort. 

Home in Hikkaduwa

Stayed here for 4 nights as we had to leave the guesthouse we had booked as it had no air con and it was unbearably hot in the room. Blue Ocean was half the price and the rooms weren’t as nice but the air con and a big comfy bed made up for the dingy room. We only used it to get showered and sleep so it was fine for us. (It was clean and had a fridge in the room)
The owner Tony and the young man who was around most of the time were really helpful and friendly. We had a laugh with the young guy and without realising taught him a few new English words.  He was going to be doing his tests to get in the Navy, so hopefully he made it! Good luck and thankyou : ) India & James, UK

Air con & comfy bed!

Dodgy and sleezy manager (looking after the property whilst the owner is away; also says he lives in Italy) who asked me if I drank alcohol or smoked weed. When I answered "no", he insisted asking "why??". Then offered me to stay for free "as they were not that many customers staying". I replied I was only going to stay one night and pay for it accordingly. (note: I was staying by myself in the room - although he'd seen me check in with a girl friend - who was staying in a different hotel). 

Locked myself in my room around 11pm. 45 minutes later, I see the key in the lock wobble and get pushed slowly: someone is trying to open my door from outside with their keys! I was so shocked and scared! I went to quickly open the door myself and saw a man running away. 

The Hikkaduwa tourist police was called several times (noone spoke English), a friend of mine called Hikkaduwa Blue Ocean to report I was sending the police. I was just too scared to sleep in that room knowing there was a sleezy guy on the loose with keys to my room! I luckily had a friend in Hikkaduwa who rushed to come and pick me up to leave that place. I had to flee the hotel!! I was not even safe in my own room.

BE CAREFUL and DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL

AVOID!! NEARLY GOT MOLESTED IN MY OWN ROOM AT NIGHT

we stayed in two rooms on 7th & 8th jan 2017. There is no one available when we reached and litterally need to search and an old lady walked up and called some person who came from other hotel to talk to us ... except this old lady there is no one else present and the same guy came on the final day for collecting money. 

we paid 244 USD for which we could have got a better hotel .the hotel opposite M/schinnamon garden quoted only 50USD per day with pool and breakfast and the hotel beside AURORA quoted even less and thier rooms are beeter in all ways....

There is no breakfast , and not even water bottles are available.. we were told the hotel owner went abroad and litterally cursed ourselves for booking this hotel...

The locks are not working properly and no latch for the wash room .. when questioned the socalled manager went away without answering... as we reached late and had an early morning program to mirissa we dint take chance of searching for alternative... we requested the cinnamon garden hotel for dinner and next day we went to aurora for dinner. 

The rooms are big with huge bed ( 4 can sleep)  but nohot water in the early morning and we dont know whom to ask....

at 10Pm when i wanted a 3 rd bed sheet and water I literally searched for half an hour to get them.... there is a refrigiratorin one room butno access to plug point nearby .. 

The beach is behind hotel cinnamon and there is a land beside the hotel and can have access to beach... finally to say its very very disappointing , and messed our holiday... you can definitely get a lot better hotel for that price...  there are no balconies to rooms
