It is not everywhere your best fuorlegged friend is welcome but in this place you can bring them both to dinner and breakfast. And you even get a V I D package! ”Very important dog”. You may stroll along the beach promenade and enjoy the sea. Good food and nice service.

Take tour best friend with you

Costs for meals and hotels in Sweden are about 25% higher than in the UK, so no hotels in Sweden were very affordable for us and we could only afford a short holiday. But Sweden was a beautiful country to visit, and this was the hotel we liked best - would have stayed longer than two days if we had the time. Others may like different style hotels.

Reasons: 
1. The setting: Hotel overlooks a small harbour in a very peaceful situation with a few houses along the nearby coast but no main road close to the sea and few people ( unlike beaches nearby). No beach but steps into sea from harbour, and grass to sit on next to the harbour.
2. The Hotel: A pub/restaurant downstairs with rooms above. Ours ( Room 1) was freshly painted, bright white 'coastal' style ( some coastal hotels were decorated  like motorway motels, so this was refreshing) - with views straight out to the harbour and the sea. Comfortable chairs and space to sit  in the room unlike many hotels. Best mattress we had in Sweden. Definitely the best room we had in Sweden ( apart from inadequete blinds...)
3. No tea or coffee in room, but free fresh coffee and tea  available at the bar all day. Really appreciated.
4. Rear garden ( sheltered from wind) where we ate in the evening, and front garden looking over harbour.
5. Staff get 10/10. Family business, and all spoke very good English, which helps as we speak no Swedish!
6. Meal: No-where else to eat in the village, and the best meal we had in Sweden (but 500 knoner for two with one glass of wine too much for our budget!).

Not so good:These are small details, and easily fixed and do not detract from a very enjoyable stay here.  
1. Blinds & curtains in room let in too much light - awake at 4.00am.
2. Room not cleaned ( we stayed two days). Would expect daily cleaning for the price.
3. First evening restaurant was very busy and we had to wait an hour for our meal, by which time we were no longer interested in eating and felt we had wasted our money.  Very good apology afterwards, but not while we were waiting. 
4. Breakfast good. We had better elsewhere - but difficult when only a small number of guests  (and  refreshing not to have crowds fighting for breakfast).. 
5. Shower floods half the bathroom/toilet area. Seems to happen in Swedish hotels ?

Recommend the hotel, the owners and the great setting overlooking the sea!

Nicely located at the sea just behind the small harbour. The restaurant is good and is decorated with second hand old things. They mainly serve dishes connected to seafood. In the building there is also a small bakery.

At the Abbekås small harbour

On the harbour with a nice garden, a good plate of mussels in the sunshine listening to the ocean and the birds couldn't be better. This isn't so easy to find as it's down a narrow street of the main Trellerborg to Ystad road

Great location

Easter lunch buffet. Really good. The selection of pickled herring is top notch and the warm delicacies do not dissapoint. Charming staff, including the young ladies eager to clear the table at very regular intervals.

Charming and very tasty

We went for a weekend in Southen Sweden; and was looking for a nice hotel with a great view. Abbekas Hotell och Hamnkrog was really great experience with a great view of the Sea; and not to far away from (Ystad or other places to visit in the area) 
The breakfast was really good, and I would also recommend that you eat the the resturant in the hotel. They are really good with fish dished. 
The rooms are small and nice, and with a great view of the sea (except room 7).
