What a gem! We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant. Chefs and staff with high ambitions and creativity based on local ingredients. Somewhat insightful staff presented the food and wines well. 

Probably the best breakfast we ever had, served at the table due to Corona virus. Just to tick what we wanted and get the delicacies served. 

Our superior room had good space for four and was cozy in a New England style. Balcony and view over the sea.

We also enjoyed the sauna - almost new and with view over the sea. Pool was nice after the sauna. We regretted not bringing our training gear as the gym was well equipped. 

Can be recommended as a getaway for families, couples, friends or whenever you want to celebrate. 

A luxury gem - more than we expected

We did a day trip to Ulvön Island and had a delicious lunch at Ulvö Hotell. We chose from one of two dishes - all made with local, seasonal ingredients - that also included coffee and dessert. The staff were warm and attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. All around a great experience!

What a carefully appointed hotel room, from the tiniest details (like the darling snowflake-shaped table on the balcony) to the big ones (like the spa-like shower and floor heating in the bathroom!). We slept soundly, deeply, and comfortably in our calm room, and we enjoyed outstanding service from everyone at the hotel. This is especially significant because we had just come off of a week of hiking the High Coast Trail and had no clean or even appropriate clothing for the hotel! We had only our hiking clothes that had been worn in rough conditions for a while. They seemed used to accommodating hikers such as ourselves and didn't mind our apparel! Don't miss the outstanding restaurant, where similar attention to detail reigns. The breakfast was unparalleled even among the already-outstanding "Swedish hotel breakfast" standard, and the dinner offered exciting twists on Swedish classics. Hope to visit again with more swanky (and cleaner!) clothing! 

Every detail considered!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here.  The main dish was a large trout, shared by both of us.  There were plenty of tasty starters and desserts as well, and everything was delicately seasoned and perfectly prepared.  We also stayed overnight in a quiet, comfortable room whose balcony offered a fantastic panoramic view of the harbor and sea passage.  Wonderful breakfast.  This is really a delightful place to visit, especially in good weather.  Unfortunately the hotel does not offer bicycle rentals.

Splendid!

Ulvo Hotel is by far the nicest place to stay when visiting Ulvohamn.  Stylish hotel with nice rooms, excellent food and great staff.  The hotel is the natural starting point for any excursion on Ulvon, be a late evening walk to spot moose, or climbing (a nice and well marked foot path) Lotsberget and just watch the sunset or sunrise and enjoy a breathtaking view.

At Ulvon trying surströmming (fermented herring) is a must.  Not everybody likes it, but you have not really been there if you have not tried it. Accompany with beer and snaps, preferably aquavit (a carroway potato based liquor). Ask for Norwegian linje aquavit . it is by far the best. Enjoy a special snack in an amazing place with atmosphere.

To get to Ulvon, you need to go by boat.  Most vistiors takes the Höga Kusten boat from Köpmannsholm.  The boat trip is also part of the experience.

Amazing place

The Ulvo Hotel was an unexpected pleasure. Amazing and attentive staff, incredibly clean and well appointed, and beautifully designed, this hotel caught us by surprise. Because, this sort of hotel shouldn't exist where it does. I'd cut them some slack if this missed a beat here or there - after all, it's a two hour boat ride from the main land, but the fact that they don't miss a beat reinforces how wonderful this place is despite it's location.

We travelled with our young daughter, and the staff made sure she had a comfortable crib along with tasty foods for a picky eater. We highly recommend this hotel for couples or young families looking to experience the unexpected.

An Unexpected Pleasure

So it has now become a tradition for my wife and I to stay here for our anniversary each year. So this time round was our third time and nothing much has changed from our previous stays. The staff are still incredibly friendly and helpful, even when everything is going wrong, like the day the whole island had a power cut due to a thunderstorm. 

Our three-course meal became a five-course one due to the kitchen adding small dishes to the menu. Really great food and experience. The breakfast is also top notch. If you are vegan, then let them know and they will pull out all the stops.

Still Perfect

This is a top notch hotel with high standards, and the cuisine really stands out.  Their lunch buffet is just amazing.  Try their many variants of pickled herring.  My favorite is the Forester's herring (Skogsvoktersild) where local herbs from the nearby woods add extra flavors to the herring.  If you are very brave, you could also ask if it is possible to get fermented herring (surströmming in Swedish).  It smells like an overripe cheese, but once the odors have vanished, you are in for a treat.

To get there, take the Höga Kusten boats from any of the nearby mainland ports (this is on an island, and Ulvöhamn where the hotel is located, is a fishing hamlet on the UN world hertigage list.  The hotel is pricey, but worth it.  Indulge yourself :-)

This hotel is located on an island.  Ulvöhamn is a great place to go for local trips in the nearby woods.  Go to Sörby (2,5 km) by foot around midnight, and you may see moose if you are quite.  Finish the evening by climbing the Lotsberget, and just watch the strait and the harbor, the sea, and the sun rising at 2:30 around midsummer.

Great hotel in a fantastic get-away-place

It's really a very beautiful, special place to visit! The landscape is fantastic, you can wander on the island, through the forest. You can find mushrooms or even see eagles! The personnel is very nice, professional, helpful. The food is something extraordinary! What an experience with the gastronomy package that we chose! The reason why I gave 4 stars was because the room was dusty, the light system is not so easy and the door to the bathroom was not hermetically closed. But nothing to stop me from coming back!
