My family and me travelled to Switzerland last month. My wife was searching hotels on Booking.com  Several were shortlisted and we zeroed in on Seehotel Baumgarten as it was bang on lake Luzern in a village called Kehrsiten. Photos of the room and hotel looked inviting. There was a warning that last 3 km of road to the hotel is very narrow. Nevertheless we booked it for SEVEN nights. 

This hotel is no good if you want a railstation nearby. But we hired a car right from the Zurich Airport. The kast 3 km were scary. only 8-10 ft wide road, water on one side, cliff on the other.If a car comes from the front, one has to back out.

Anyways the hotel is worth the troubles. Superbly clean rooms, clean linen, small but nice ensuit bathrooms, great common room where several gusts can sit, chat, play cards/chess or sip wine. Superb restaurant and breakfast. 

Room views are excellent with Mt Pilatus there to see all the time from windows. 
A walk in the village is with the effort. Cows can be seen grazing on the Burgenstock mountain behind. 

Patricia and other personnel superbly efficient. She even knew Hindi!!

However for my size of person, (6'2") shower cubicle was TERRIBLY small.

Overall HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Stunning hotel on a stunning location!

It's a difficult to reach hotel (2km of one way cliff driving with a chance of opposing traffic), but once you get there it looks quite stunning! Staff is ok, but don't bother trying to speak English. The rooms are reasonably sized, but quite low. You'll have a problem if you're taller than 190cm. Rooms don't have A/C, and are pretty noisey.

Firstly the positives: the hotel location is beautiful and the breakfast was nice. The staff were pleasant as well. The wifi worked.

However, the rooms we had (singles in the adjacent building) were terrible. Dingy old decor, thin walls so very noisy, a basin in the room but shared shower & toilet. The single shower was shared between approx 10 rooms. Two toilets (1 M, 1 F) between the same number of rooms. Horrible & won't stay here again. Perhaps the rooms in the main building are better but we didn't see them.

Like a boarding house..

Hotel is quite far from nearest boat Station.
No lift, no air conditioner, no fan even.. carry your luggage by own no helping Hand from Hotel.
Staff was nice but owner is quite rude..
Review Hotel rules before booking as rules are quite tough and they Charge one to one EURO Exchange with CHF.
