We visited this restaurant on several occasions during our stay in Kandersteg. After our first visit we were treated as friends upon our return. The restaurant and staff were fantastic. We don’t speak German and they didn’t speak English, however we muddled through. The pizzas and pastas were fantastic, both freshly prepared and the beer and wine was good. The placemats with a map of the area was a lovely touch.

Fantastic find. Excellent Food

This review is for the restaurant and not the stay. We dined in once here and ordered a pizza carry out another time. They take cash if it's less than 20CHF. The pizza tasted good and you get a sheet to fill out the toppings you like. We had onion, pineapple, green pepper, spinach pizza and arabiatta pasta. They had 2/3 vegetarian options overall which is decent for a small Alpine village. They have an outdoor garden seating area as well which was nice. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. The service was adequate as well. 

Restaurant with vegetarian options

We stayed here for two nights during our visit to Kandersteg, Switzerland. This hotel is placed in a great location. The view from the balcony room is beautiful. You can go for a walk from the hotel in the evening to get some breathtaking views. The breakfast buffet is good. One can also dine in the hotel restaurant. The owner is friendly and helpful. If are looking for a relaxing and quiet stay, consider this hotel. 

Relaxing stay at Pension Spycher

Well presented hotel in traditional Swiss Chalet style. The breakfast was standard continental with bread from excellent bakers next door. Muesli, fresh Yoghurt, meat and cheeses. Also able to get tea in a pot.
The location was quiet and within 5 minutes walking distance of train station to Spiez, giving access to trains all over the area. Plus cable car nearby to Blue Lake above the town.

The large breakfast dining room becomes a Pizza Restaurant in the evenings.

The owner spoke English and very friendly.

Lovely setting in traditional Swiss small town

24 scouts and 6 leaders fancying a change from canteen food at KISC, we chanced a call to the restaurant whilst out for the day. They suggested a buffet style service with a variety of different toppings all ready to be cooked when we arrived. Arriving at 6.45 they had prepared 25 pizzas which were eaten almost as fast as they could be cooked. Excellent friendly service, extremely good prices as they also gave us a reduced price due to the quantity (which we never thought about asking for, such was the quality) and half the price of the equivalent restaurant we had looked at in Thun, where we had spent the day. 
As two of the scouts where celebrating birthdays, we had already bought some cakes to share out and the restaurant where more than happy to dish them out, even if we think it was a little cheeky of us.
Superb food, lovely restaurant, excellent service and very affordable. Would highly recommend to all staying around Kandersteg. Thank you

Scout group pizza night

We really enjoyed our stay .
Cosy and comfortable rooms .Very clean ! The service was excellent in the hotel and the restaurant .Very good pizzas 
The location is perfect .
Lots of good walks and the cable car is only 10 mins away .If you are diving to Italy the car train to Goppenstein is a 5 min drive .Not possible to book but it is regular and easy to get on .About 30 euros .
The bakery opposite is a must .Lovely cafe and great things for a packed lunch .
Near the Post Office is a delicatessen selling wonderful yoghurt and home made cheeses..We used it every day .
The local bus is free if you are a guest .We Used it up and down the valley .

Friendly traditional hotel

The pizza was good and the service was okay except for one lady.  We arrived a little late in the evening and my husband asked if they were still open. She asked, “why wouldn’t we be?”  I explained that we thought maybe it was too late and their kitchen would be closed.  She seemed irritated.  Other than that the staff was pleasant and food was fine.

We stayed at the hotel for NYE and went to the restaurant on the night of the 31/12. While the food was good, the service was extremely bad. Beer spilled by the waitress on the table and we had to ask ourselves for new napkins and very unfriendly staff that made us feel uncomfortable. Once we finished the main plate, no one asked whether we wanted a coffee/dessert or if we wanted to pay. We asked the latter but the waitress did not (want to) hear us. Avoid this restaurant if you want to stay in a good mood after your meal. Service is hard to digest
