As a regular guest I always enjoy the very friendly , warm and now familiar atmosphere at this charming and very cosy hotel in the nicest part of the Neuchatel region. Alice is always welcoming and helpful, now a familiar face for my family. Highly recommended

Best stay in Neuchatel area

Situated right in the middle of beautiful Hauterive this small charming hotel is an excellent place if you need to rest or visit Neuchatel.From there communication are excellent and in 15 min.the public bus drop you in center town.
And if you are a food lover don't miss the restaurant next door.One of the best around

Romantic B&B

An ideal place from which to explore.
Some excellent restaurants in the vicinity 
The Staff is not present 24/7 and why should they.
This is not a place that will entertain you, but rather guide you on.
I must say that the lady at reception was most pleasant to deal with 

A nice stop over in Neuchatel 

I like small hotels, but this was something special. The hotel is tastefully decorated in an old fashion style, with antique wallpaper and furniture. It is situated in a quiet side street where one can peacefully sleep at night. All in all it is to be recommended.

Small quaint hotel with a special feeling

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights with our daughter and two grandchildren aged 5 and 7.we had two adjoining rooms that were comfortable and simply furnished. We cared for the children while our daughter had business meetings in Neuchatel. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. Morning breakfast was more than adequate. The staff helped with ideas for things to do with the children. We did have a car which was very useful and used our WAZE app constantly while touring this part of Switzerland.

Visit to Hauterive Switzerland

Sleeping under the roof of an old house: this is the place. At the centre of a winemaker village. Parking nearby and free of charge. Bakery (very good) nearby too. The cleanliness in the bath room (in the shower) wasn't convincing. For business travellers...the Wifi isn't really powerful and there are hardly any plugs to recharge your electronics.  The owner only submitted a list of take aways restaurants...but hotel guests would have to organise everything. No breakfast at hotel neither. Lack of customer orientation.

Historic and nice ambiance

The clue, as they say, is in the title...
Vieux means old
Toits means roof (more on that later)

Old - Decor is a mixture of mock Louis XIV (furniture), 1950s (wallpaper & furniture) and 2000s (laminate floor, Velux windows...). 
Old can be good - you break away from the Travel Lodge/Premier Inn/insert-business-travel-hotel-chain-here style, and certainly get more character for it. The surrounding area is stuffed with centuries old architecture, which is very nice.

Old can also be bad.  Some of the decor and fittings are tired, to say the least.

This is a very small hotel (10 rooms), although more accurately B&B, because hotel indicates a restaurant, which this does not have. Breakfast only.
The bar is open at random times at the discretion of the proprietors.

Be aware that while this establishment has no dining facilities, Neuchatel as a whole in fact has many closed restaurants on a Monday, although the Buffet de Funicular is ok and 15 minutes walk away.

This was my second stay in this hotel, and forced by lack of availability in town. My room may have been the last available, so maybe not the best room they have, so if you need to book, try to avoid room 8.
The bath is the smallest I have ever seen, and the shower attachment is mounted at chest-height.  WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT ????
The toilet for this particular room is outside the room, so one needs to get dressed before going for a leak.
The hot-water tap produces only tepid water, although the shower temperature is adequate.

Oh - yes - the roof...  Be careful if you do decide to stay, and up in one of the rooms with the low-sloping ceiling - it is very easy to knock yourself unconscious !

As a regular visitor to Neuchatel, I've stayed in several hotels, as well as AirBnB places, but won't be coming back to this one in a hurry.

The clue is in the name !

the stuff was very nice and helped us out with several questions. the hotel itself was average and good for one/two nights. it's more a big house with several rooms than a proper hotel. the area is really romantic and calm, close to neuchatel (10' bus ride). the breakfest was delicious (fresh croissants, great coffee) but the offer was quite basic. I'd recommend it!
