This is another hotel in Taiwan that doesn’t have a lot of information on the English websites. I think this hotel was recently renovated a few years ago and so the name has also changed. The location of the hotel is really great because it faces the lake on one side and on the other side is a shopping and restaurant area. There are many restaurants to choose from although they are all a bit expensive because it’s a tourist area.

This hotel is relatively small compared to the hotels nearby, which I like because that means no tour group. There’s only one room on each floor with a lake view, so book early. The lake view rooms on the higher floors of course cost more. The balcony is private, and the views are quite stunning. You can see the lake and the mountains and of course the pier. The shape of the outside of the balcony is round so it makes a really cute photo. You also get a lot of sunlight. The bed is big and very comfortable and so are the pillows. The sink is outside of the bathroom. There’s a shower and a bathtub and the most amazing toilet that auto flushes. I also love that the sink has a separate spout for filtered water. My room was the only one that had special wallpaper with Moomin cartoons.  It’s adorable! The breakfast which was included was also pretty good.

The hotel has an agreement with a bike shop nearby so if you ask the receptionist, they’ll give you a voucher for one hour bike rental for free per person. We ended up just lounging in our room instead of biking. Lastly, the hotel is right at the pier where you can get on the mini ferry, that goes all around the lake, which is super convenient. This hotel really is perfect in terms of room and location. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect resort

My friends and I spent a night at this hotel. Frankly speaking, I did not notice smth disgusting at the hotel, may be we were just lucky. The hotel offered us a nice 4 people package, so we didn't spend much money on bicycles, cruise and amusement park. The hotel has a good location and is close to 7-11. Unfortunately, breakfast is really terrible here, so you'd better buy something in advance or go to another cafe.

Ok to stay

We made one night trip to Sun Moon Lake while visiting Taipei. Only stayed one night as intended otherwise would have moved to other hotel. The only credit was the view from the guest room. We woke up in the morning with amazing view of Sun Moon Lake and the mountain at the background. The breakfast was terrible and houseflies are flying around. The rooms are too tiny and it is hot when the afternoon sun is up. The location is good. Just walk out from the hotel and you will get to take the boat ride across Sun Moon Lake. We rented the bicycles in the morning and rode along the lake. It was refreshing and memorable. We really enjoyed wonderful scenery and the trip was well worth it.

Great view, good location but tiny room and awful breakfast

This location and view over the lake is really great, Ahh but that's as far as it goes as really was let down by the quality in the room and it just looks like it was not cared after enough, the plumbing/bathroom needed updating, the walls was dirty with mold spots.
There is no shower curtain and obviously all the water goes all over the floor, I 'm sure you can get a cheap one just to stop that happening. It just a shame their are not using all money to just update the rooms.
The staff is helpful enough and the location of the hotel is looking over the sun moon lake, however the hallways and reception area were in reasonable quality. The bed and sheets was clean, the breakfast buffet variation was limited but enough to get you started on the day looking round the lake. 
To be honest we were on a package includes the cable car rides and the boat trips all sorted and done by the hotel over New Year and we had the best seats to see the fireworks and the crowd cheering at the harbor. So reading other reviews may be off putting but if you just ignore those negative details of the room points and accept you are in a poor quality hotel and enjoy your time outside the building.
We just accept it's an older hotel that needs renovation and is just below average.


Room with a view, not looking at the bathroom

We decided to stay at Apollo Hotel because we found some really nice pictures of the hotel, but the moment we entered the hotel lobby, we knew we made a bad choice. Not only the hotel is expensive (I paid SGD120++ per night), but the hotel is also very old. Only plus point is that it's very near to the harbour. But this plus point actually turned into a nightmare the next morning as the platforms in the harbour were making this squeaking noise when the waves came. Also, I reached the hotel rather early and could not check in yet; hence, I had to use their public toilet on the 1st floor, and it smell worst than the public toilets in train stations/restaurants/etc. I almost puke out everything I ate that morning. 

After we checked in at about 5pm, we confirmed that we made a lousy choice. The room is old, small and dirty. Only good thing is the view. The worst thing about the room is the toilet. It's extremely old and dirty. It's so bad until I rather not drink water so that I don't have to use the toilet that often. The bath tube is yellowish and not white. Toilet bowl is full of stains. I was more than happy to check out early the next day. And, the hotel room door was so badly designed - you actually need to slam your door in order to close it. Because of this, I kept waking up from my sleep because other guests were leaving/coming back to their rooms. 

Finally, breakfast was horrible. We left after having 1 mouthful of porridge each. They can't even cook proper plain porridge. 

Conclusion is, I will never ever return to this hotel again.

Hotel is really old and dirty

It was a disappointment.  Run by a family, with rude attitude.  Rey dusty and dirty.  Bulbs were blown and need replacing.  Next morning, we had a big bag of dirty laundry blocking our room door. Didn't even dare try their breakfast to further spoil the trip. If it wasn't for just one night we would have moved to another hotel even though it was paid for. Oh please don't even thing about staying here. Terrible and it just spoils the trip and the local reputation. Why are they even listed on TripAdvisor?

Please don't stay at this hotel!

Book through agoda, the moment I stepped in the room , it was a total shock! The window view is other houses roof top, toilet flush unserviceable. Asked for a room change the staff told us has to top up money from a 5 persons room to a 3 person with lake view. Felt cheated cos the 3 person room condition was not better only the view is ok. Rather pay Twn $1500 more for another newer and better hotel. The hotel did not maintain the room condition at all and staff were rude. Think twice!
