I stayed at the duplex pool villa for 1 night.
For the location is beautiful  but for the Villa, there're not many lights. It's quite dark at night. I'm afriad that maybe we will fall and miss down the stairs. 
For the 2 big problems are the staff and the cleaning. 
When we were checking in, the staff informed about Breakfast (start 6:30 am.) and Dinner ( finish 6:30 pm.). She informed that it is breakfast buffet but.. In the morning, we went up to have breakfast 7:30 Am. We didn't see any F&B staff . So, I called to the lobby and they answer me like its my fault for calling them. Then one staff come and explain that we have to order a la carte menu for brakfast. What?! Then she gave us the menu explain like we have to choose the menu set.. when we didn't understand about the ordering. She got the mood and look on us like annoying. After We finished our brf.
For cleaning, I go to swimming pool toilet. It's really dirty like never clean before. Morover, there'are many glasses that be used in front of my room.

Our flights arrived at 8pm at night and we had organised with the hotel for pick up and someone was waiting with our names on display which was pleasant after a long flight. We were greeted with friendly staff upon checkin which was quick and easy and we were in our room in no time. The room was clean and smelled great. As we were tired from the flight we decided to go straight to sleep. The bed was extremely firm which lead to a poor nights sleep for the duration of the stay, however my husband didn't mind the firmness. In the morning, we took a step on our balcony and the view was amazing. We had an ocean view and you could even see Chaweng across the waters. We went to breakfast (which was included in our stay) and it was order off the menu instead of a buffet (which I'm used to at other hotels) but it was great as the food we ordered every morning was yummy and good serving sizes. I found the staff to be friendly but they weren't always attentive and found sometimes you were waiting a while to attempt to get staffs attention which even included trying to get a drink at an empty bar. There was no beach at the hotel, as it was more cliffside but they did have a jetty and offered free snorkel gear and kayaking for guests. We only did snorkelling but the gear was old and filled up with water which was disappointing. The hotel was beautiful but also a little run down. It has so much potential to be an amazing hotel if money was put into maintenance and training for staff.

If you feel like getting away from crying children and terrible teenagers, and instead enjoy a few good restaurants and a great view then this place is for you.

The restaurant on the hotel is good as well and the rooms are very comfortable and the employees are smiling and service minded 

Peace and quite, with a view

Just left and we already wish we didn't. Great boutique style resort with amazing views. Staff was super friendly and personable. Complimentary Breakfast was not buffet but had plenty of options. 
We stayed in the private Villa which was layed out on 3 floors (living space, pool level, and balcony level). Even had our own staircase leading down to the ocean. Would definitely recommend staying in one. 
Location was just between the main town and Lamai. Easy commute to both and was nice being a bit out of all the hustle and bustle. 

Awesome boutique style resort. 

Hillside hotel with nice views but a lot of steps to go anywhere whether it be pool,sea,or restaurant. Not suitable for young or old. Beginning to look tired with chipped,broken and missing tiles to pool,worn beach towels,and generally in need of decoration. No beach but you can swim to one 100m away. Snorkeling only fair and light electric shocks from small jellyfish.
Staff very friendly and helpful.

Shabby chic

This hotel I simply stunning!!! From the moment we arrived & opened the entrance we were entirely impressed...and then the room - wow!!!
We couldn't get one on the higher floor (or away from the pool bar) which would have been even more blissful, but truly, the room was absolutely lovely. 
Breakfast choices are pretty limited & small portions, but certainly adequate. 
We went to a special dinner buffet that was OUTSTANDING in quality, presentation & taste. The staff were all so friendly & helpful. A great experience!
Kayak (free to use) to nearby beaches easy & very enjoyable.

We spend a nice stay in the Kala Hotel. The staff is really professional. The restaurant during our stay had a good chef de cuisine. The ladies of the massage staff were very efficient.

peaceful Kala Hotel

I came to Koh Samui for mainly relaxationpurposes and The Kala was the right place to be for this! During my three weeks here I almost never left the wonderful hotel. They provided everything I needed for a great vacation. I would warmley recommend them to my fellow-travellers. Beautiful sceneries, excellent food and the nicest staff.

I had a fantastic vacation at The Kala, the best hotel ever!

So my boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights during the holidays and it was as great experience. The staff is super friendly and made our experience at The Kala very memorable. It was my boyfriends birthday one of the days, and the hotel manager Nuan Ek-in was so kind to help me set up a surprise private dinner on the deck. It was definitely one of the best experiences of our lives. Nuan and the staff helped to keep it a secret and had the most beautiful (yet affordable!) set up on the deck with candles around on canopy, flowers, and music - it was amazing. Everything about that night was perfect. We had our private dinner, the sounds of the ocean, romantic music in the background, a four course meal, dessert, and to go above and beyond, a cake for my boo! When they brought out the cake, the whole staff sang to him, and it was very sweet. Best night ever!

Not only did Nuan and the staff help me make this the best birthday ever for my BF, but she recommended private tours for us that was an unforgettable experience as well. She wanted to make sure that we weren't on those crowded tours, but wanted us to have the best experience and catered to. She put us on a private snorkeling tour, with a private lunch, on our own private beach! Again, hands down amazing. I couldn't have asked for more. 

The hospitality was so awesome here, you won't regret it. Thank Nuan and staff for the unforgettable experience. We will definitely be returning back soon!.

The Kala was a great place to stay at and the staff is super friendly!

The hotel is in a wonderful location on Koh Samui.  Equal distance between Lamai and Chaweng with the gorgeous Silver Beach and another smaller beach nearby. While it's on the main road the hotel itself is so peaceful and quiet.

The hotel does have a lot of steps as its on a hillside so would not be good for anyone with disabilities. The hotel grounds themselves are beautiful and because it's on the side of the hill there are views of the ocean from every point.

We paid for an upgrade to a villa when we arrived and are so happy we did. It really made our last few nights in Thailand special. The staff were so lovely and welcoming as well. 

Excellent value. Peaceful atmosphere. Relaxing.
