We stayed here only for one night for a jungle tour, but we were surprised how nice it was. The rooms are clean, have air conditioning, a fan, a television and even a water boiler and tea/coffee.   The staff is friendly and the perceived owner can also speak English very well. He was also our tour guide for the trip. 
The restaurant is very cheap and delicious and if you want, you can prepare your own food.

Great hotel with very friendly staff

Around the world hotels and resorts are graded on various "star" ratings.  If it was up to me based on authentic experience, I would rate Uncle Nai's Hut as 6 Star.

No, it doesn't have a plush reception desk, bellhops, and staff waiting to fawn on your every move.  It doesn't have a fancy restaurant offering international cuisine and fine wine.  And it doesn't have large expensively decorated bedrooms with modern bathrooms and facilities.

What it does have is authenticity, character and heart.

Uncle Nai is a 50-ish Thai who spent nearly 30 years as a teacher of physical education and art.

A few years ago he decided to opt out and bought three rai of land near Kao Yai National Park in Thailand and started to build "huts" out of recycled timber, recycled windows and recycled doors.  He even built the beds and furnishings from recycled wood.  But he fitted out the huts with electricity, air conditioning, television, Wi-Fi, fridge, toilets and hot water showers.

The result is an amazing escape from the plasticity of modern hotels.

Uncle Nai has now built six huts and is near completing his seventh.   He has a storage area with enough recycled timber to build another ten huts, but says he is happy to stop at about ten.

Uncle Nai's Hut is along a river and he has two floating pontoons.  The night before we arrived he told us that a German couple slept the night on one of the pontoons with mosquito nets.

Uncle Nai speaks excellent English and his face lights up with delight when you engage him in conversation.

The only downside is that Uncle Nai's Hut has no restaurant, so you must drive three to four kilometers down the road to find somewhere to eat.

I have suggested to him that he needs to put in at least some basic eating facility for people who do not have cars to drive to the nearby restaurants.

Amazing Experience

We stayed here for 2 nights to see the park. It's a remote place with a few lovely cottages, with some relaxing-spots in between and near the water. There is a restaurant with good food and you can also do a cookingclass. But the most important thing is: the people are really, really nice. Nothing is too difficult, they answer all your questions, want to help with everything... and the place just makes you feel like home. Very warming and welcoming!

Very Nice staff!

Baan Avatar Homestay is nice bungalow park at a river, close to the Khao Yai National Park, 20 minutes by car. The center of Pak Chong is a bit remote, but shuttle service is available.
The cottages in Thai style are very nice and cosy and have a balcony/seating area with rocking chair where you can chill out with a drink and enjoy your holiday! 
At the river you can take a ride in one of the canoes.
The cottage i have stayed in had a private bathroom, tv, fan, and storage room; free Wifi.  
Not forget to bring insect / mosquito repellent, to make sure you will have a good night sleep!
The restaurant at the park offers delicious traditional Thai dishes and free breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Avatar Homestay also offers reasonable priced guided tours into Khao Yai NP. 
I was very satisfied about the tour, a full day out and i was lucky to see a lot of animals that day, as well as the 2 most beautiful waterfalls of the park. Superfriendly tourguide.

Peaceful place near Khao Yai NP

I stayed one night in Uncle Nai´s Hut. It´s not easy at all to find the place. Simle, quite big houses made by - I suppose - traditional materials. Bed was good enough, with mosquito clothes. Don´t get up in the nighttime from your bed, because you don´t know, if the mosquitos are dangerous (Dengue?) or not.  Quite noisy music in the neighbourhood in nighttime.  Somehow extreme experience.
