We popped in here on the off chance.  It is in a very central location over looking the bay. The girl in reception was extremely helpful. They have free WiFI. It might be a little tired but this is a small place with not too many foreign tourists.

Lovely Staff

Hotel Timur was chosen on position but as the WiFi was unusable so we only stayed one night and therefore overpriced at TL180.Rooms are clean with nice beach and mountain views . Breakfast has the usual good variety of fresh vegetables, cheeses, breads etc. Amasra is a pretty little town with beaches and plenty of  restaurants. Arrived by bus from Safranbola, a two hour journey.

Good position and has potential

Very central location (mind you it's not a big town!)
Rooms small and old fashioned but OK but bathrooms TINY (its a struggle to actually sit on the toilet)
Lift old and erratic, (the lift stuck between floors with my friend in it, took a few minutes to reset it and get him out!).
Nice breakfast at the top of the hotel.
Friendly staff but very limited English.

You get what you pay for (it's not expensive)

The room was extremely small and very noisy. The worst thing was the smell of cigarette smoke. It felt as if someone was smoking inside our room. A one point we had to leave the room  as it was difficult to breathe normally inside the room. There were cats everywhere mainly in the breakfast room and of course the place smelled like cats. Also the television did not work. We asked the hotel staff to fix it. The following day we were able to watch few channels, but then the signal went out again.
Location was excellent.

not pleasant

This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in where I have had to ask for my room to be cleaned.  I thought the hotel was dirty and disgusting and could not recommend it to anyone.  Usual buffet breakfast but the salad was not fresh.  It is an old hotel, but they could do with some good management to improve the place.  I will be going back to Amasra which is a pretty little town, but never to this hotel.
